Haha ok got it. I honestly haven't looked too closely at my stock fogs and I haven't ordered the CS fogs yet so I was just curious. I figured it wouldn't work, but thought it was at least worth posing the question. Thanks for the info.

I finally got some new bulbs that are a closer match to the HID's. The only real way to match the HID's is to actually have HID's. But these are close enough for me.

I also changed my grille if you didn't notice

This is a pic I just snapped here at work sitting next to my buddies built 5.7 lsx with a procharger and nitrous

After having these xenon match bulbs since October, I'm sick of them. I want an exact match. I was tolerant, but I can't pretend like it doesn't bother me anymore.

What do I need to convert my fogs to hid's? Will any hid kit work?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, but color will vary from diff sources. I've had ddm and retrofitsource 4500k bulbs. The ddms are a little on the blue side while the rfs don't look blue at all, I prefer the rfs but the bulbs alone costs a much as the entire ddm kit with ballasts, btw they're running on ddm 55w ballasts. Knowing what I know now I would have spent the extra bucks on the entire rfs kit, much better quality all together and worth the money. But remember this only helps for aesthetics, light pattern/ output still sucks even at 55w.

Yeah... Is the rfs kit really $100 better?

I don't have their ballasts but I do have their bulbs and wire/relay harnesses, they are better in every aspect.

I'm in the same boat, but what I do know is that the factory hids are 35w ballasts.

I would recommend a 35w bulb if you go with HIDs, ours use a 35w HID which is plenty bright and doesn't add the risk of melting your housing or lens. If you are trying to match the factory HIDs, your best bet is a 4500k kit.

I currently have our 6000k HID kit on my 2007 GT w/ GT500 front end. I haven't gotten around to switching my fog lights to HID yet, but our LED bulbs are a pretty close match to 6000k HIDs.

Which wattage and kelvin do you have your bulbs? I'm not sure if I should get the 3000k or 4300k, 3000k seems a little yellowish (like a halogen bulb) but the 4300k seems a little blueish. I was thinking 55w 4300k.

All of our HID kits use a 35 watt bulb

3000k is going to be straight, deep yellow
4300k is pure white, resembles the factory HID color
6000k is mostly white with a hint of blue, matches our LEDs nicely
8000k is an icy blue color

We don't carry 10000k because after 8000k the effectiveness of the lights are diminished.

*If you are trying to match factory color, I'd suggest 4300k

Their bulbs are not offered in multiple wattages but rather they will accept ballasts with 35 watts or higher. I am running DDM's 55watt slimline ballasts in the headlights (rfs wiring harness) and lower cs fogs (my own relay harness) but am using DDM's 35 watt slimlines in my upper/center fogs (stock wiring) The bulbs are:
Headlights, 4300k: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...ducts_id=22088 nice an white, like an OEM HID
Upper/center fogs, 3000k: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...oducts_id=4120 very yellow from behind the wheel, but not when viewed from outside, looking at the lights themselves
Lower cs fogs, 4300k: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...oducts_id=4121 again nice an white, matching the head lights.

For the fog lamps, all you did was use the Starkey (or similar) GT/CS fogs with the RFS bulbs ($40), right? I wanna make sure I got that correct.

Not sure what you mean. I added the gt/cs lower valence (it came assembled with the light assemblies) to my gt, no starkey products used.

Some updated info about heat with diff wattage DDM ballasts vs oem 55watt halogen bulb. This is by no means scientific but I've not seen any other data otherwise. I was checking out my driver's side lower foglight bulb/ballast because it was out, wanted to rule out if it were the bulb, ballast or my wiring. At the same time I decided to take some temperature measurements with my infrared thermometer. The measurements fluctuated and it was sort of difficult aiming while trying not to look at the bulbs, even tried it with my welding mask but couldn't see the readout or the aiming laser point with it on.

These are average Fahrenheit readings at a distance of about 6", with the bulbs hanging down from the car (not in the assembly) while the front end is on jack stands and again this is with the RFS 4300K H11 bulb:

DDM slimline 55watt ballast: average in the upper 600's with max readings in the 730's
DDM slimline 35watt ballast: averaged in the upper 500's with max readings in the 630's
OEM 55watt halogen bulb: averaged in the lower 530's with max readings at about 630.

turns out the 55watt ballast was bad...and with those temps swapped both ballasts back to the 35watters.

...hope this helps somebody
