Budget wheel options?

I've been in the market for some aftermarket wheels? My budget is less than $1500 which pretty much means I have to stay under $1000 for the wheels. Pretty much everything I have seen in that price range has been pretty lousy. The AMR wheels look ok. What other options are there? I would like to keep it 20" rims since the tires are more affordable in the long run. Non-staggered as well for cost considerations.

What are you guys running that was affordable. Vossen, Forgestar, and many of the other brands look amazing but way out of the reach of many. Thanks!

The issue with 20" wheels in that price range is they'll all be poor quality. It's especially bad because you'll have very thin tires on there most likely, which compounds any possible damage from potholes and such.

I would try and up your budget a bit. No sense in paying $1000 for wheels, then having them get cracked when you run over the slightest bump.

Luckily where I live the roads are great. Phoenix has some of the best highways in the country. No potholes or anything like that. We don't have weather that erodes the streets either.

1500 for wheels alone is a good start...

What about 18's? An 18X9 all around with 255/45/18 tires will fit your budget and look good too.

To be honest,......I would grow your wheel fund a little more.
You'll regret "cheaping" out on wheels. Good luck man.

I agree, grow your fund a little more, and maybe look at 18's or 19's, instead of 20's to save there. Try this link to give you some more ideas. You might want to save more for the tires too. $500 doesnt seem like very much for rubber.

I already have 18" pony wheels. Definitely want to upgrade from there. They look too small. 19's typically end up costing more due to the more expensive tires although the rims are cheaper.

I guess my next option is to patiently wait for some one to sell their aftermarket wheels to get a steep discount.

Check out www.wheelreplicas.com my frugal friend. Inexpensive wheels that have warranties.

Give us a shout, we have some pretty good deals going on with Niche. We're a big dealer (if not the biggest mustangs) for Avant Garde, Rohana and Vossen. You'd be surprised at what you can get. Get wheels first, then save up for some good tires.

Also, stay away from gravity cast wheels. They're cheap, heavy and have a tendency to crack under heavy load. Low pressure cast is a bit more stronger and lighter. Rotary Forged and Flow Formed are you more affordable forged wheels.

I would check the for sale section on here and also other mustang forums. Then check ebay as well. There's always someone who's tired of their nice wheels and wants something else right now, which is good for wheeling and dealing. pardon the pun.

If I had a good 4th wheel I'd sell you my rims and tires! They have 6800 kilometres on them. 19" GT aluminum rims,
I have 3 rims and great tires, and 1 cracked rim and an excellent tire.

What paint did you use on those?

I just used matte black plastidip; I wasn't a fan of a "permanent" modification to my wheels.

I've got the same on mine. Yours just looked to have more gloss to them. Maybe the one pic is when it was still wet or something. I've been thinking of going with a gloss on mine next. I like the matte, but with the other gloss accents on the grabber blue I think it will just pop more.
