First of all, hope things are starting to turn around for you.

Got my car back after a long shop visit. Have to say they did an excellent job. Matches great and just looks good. They fixed the underside of the hood so it’s not a mess to look at anymore. One little imperfection on the edge (inner edge that facees the fender when closed - to be honest the factory paint probably had worse and I’d be carted away to a doctor if I complained about it) in front where the clear bra will wrap around to the underside. I’m hoping it’s not a big deal for the clear bra shop. Anyway a couple of crappy pics until I detail it a bit.

Spoke a bit too soon. Not happy with the front edge. Very rough and can even see a paint tape line. Yeah most of it is hidden, but still.

That sucks. Are you going to say something to them about it?

I still haven't gotten my car back from the shop.

Taking it in Monday. I’m sure (but hoping not) that my guy at the shop will think I’m crazy. I happen to the think for $1260 the hood edge should have a good clean coat of paint and clear even though it’s mostly hidden. I’m worried about future chipping. Never ends...

Hopefully we’ll both be satisfied soon so we can just enjoy our cars.

So my car is back at the shop, but a place I used to go to all the time called Factory Collision in Weymouth MA. The more I looked at the crap work that Ford did to my car I couldn't take it anymore. These guys are really good at Factory Collision. The owner Rob is a great guy with his son and the rest of the crew. They found more issues than I even recognized in the way the dealership painted my car.

So in two weeks I should have my car back painted in a way that I'll be proud to show off. And if you're asking why didn't I go to Factory Collision first, it's because they are a bit of a drive away from my home and I got lazy and found convenience to be more important. Never again!

Sheeeeeee's baaaack!

I picked up my car yesterday at Factory Collision in Weymouth MA. Unfortunately it was downpouring so a final thumbs up will have to wait until later today, but...so far it looks amazing. The underside of the hood looks fantastic finally. It's done in the same color and is a matte like finish which is more factory like than that glossy black. Flawlessly painted too.

The hood and fender paint blending looks really nice too. Still waiting for the sun to come out to be sure. A flashlight run on it looks like they nailed it. They even seemed to lessen the hood dip at the fender.

Final thoughts later. Just happy she's back: )

2014 hood swap or repair

Like a good number of us, I am suffering from hood bubbling. The dealer repainted it twice and now its out of the 5 year warranty with 42k miles and its doing it again. I am figuring it would cost about $5-600 cash to bring it to my favorite painter for repair and paint again, or swap hoods.
I can get a stock hood (it is a V6 and I would keep it rather than go GT, not fond of the louvers or cowl hoods) for about $700 and of course plus paint, so it will be $1300-1500.
I thought about aftermarket and would choose regular fiberglass over a carbon fiber hood. I really like the GT 500 hoods by Cervini's and they look like they do a really nice job. I don't like the louvers on the hood however. I wonder if they could eliminate them?
I picked up a Shelby style stripe kit about 3 years back, and it seems the paint is either bubbling or curing (everybody says 6 months, I wonder how they do it in the factory!) so the stripe kit is dusty LOL.
I am getting fed up, and need to make a choice leaving it alone to bubble (its not terrible but a matter of pride), pay to have it fixed again or buy something new and hope there are no shipping problems or paint problems with the new one.
Your thoughts?
I will keep you posted and thanks for listening to me whine, the stripe kit is getting dustier LOL
