AMR Wheels and center caps options

Anyone here has been able to find a replacement center cap for those AMR wheels.

Seen some posts reporting that the tri-bar pony would fit but no real evidence of it actually fitting..

They're "large" caps at 2.5 inches.I have a plan for mine that involves modifying the AM caps, but only because I can't find caps I want, and I'm not about to $150-200 for tri-bar-pony or FRPP caps.

I heard that the 03 Mach 1 center caps would work. I know where there is a set of take offs near me. I will try to go by there today and see if they fit. They are the tri-bar pony caps. I will also get a part number if they fit.

What do you mean by "generic caps"? Got a link?

hmmm. something like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-BEN...1b674d&vxp=mtr

these are generic, you can probably contact the seller for a 2 1/2 inch set

and then a gel decal like this:

I did mine a year ago, so I don't remember exactly who I bought them from. Probably a little bit cheaper back then.

After close inspection of the 03-04 Mach 1 wheels the center caps are exactly the same size as the AMR center caps. I didn't not try a fit test as I would have had to remove the wheel to get it back off. But they are the exact same size. I have included pictures of the actual center cap as well as the rear of the cap for part numbers.

I bought a set of the Tri-Bar Pony caps for my AMR wheels they do not fit. While they are 2.5 in size they are short and don't lock into place. I have contacted AMR via email requesting more information on center caps that do fit that they sell and have waited more than a week with no response. I like their products but it seems the only way to get them to respond to you is if you call them. Even when I ordered my wheel kit I could not get an email response.

Where did you get the center caps? Are they Ford center caps or aftermarket?

yes, you have to look at the depth of the caps as well in order to make sure they are the same. I remember I had to dremel off some tabs on the inside of my generic caps in order for them to lock properly.

I ordered them from CJPonyParts they are part number M1096K. They were the cheapest for this cap at 25 bucks a piece. They look awesome in the wheel I was really disappointed when they wouldn't lock in. Depth is important that is why I emailed AMR asking which caps they sell fit these rims.

Thank you! I didn't measure the depth but judging just by sight they seemed like they would work. I was going to test fit one when I went back home this week and then post a picture of that. But the bad part is I checked on Ebay and the only set I could find were $125. I can only imagine how much they cost from the dealership.

I have the same issue with a set of Steeda Q1 rims. Anyone have experience with those?

This sounds similar to the 17x10.5 Reps I purchased for my Cobra. I had to wrap the centercap with electrical tape and then push it in the wheel. Maybe give that a shot as it worked for me.

I tried the 03-04 Mach one center caps and they indeed do not fit. Looks going with a customized American Muscle center cap or generic cap is going to be the way to go. The stock caps for the Mach 1 could possibly be modified to fit but I don't have a set to experiment with and at $125 a set I don't think I will be buying some just to cut and grind on for fun! LOL
