Question OEM 2010 GT500 wheels -- "dark argent" vs "dark charcoal" ?

Hello All -- I am considering the OEM 2010-style GT500 wheels, quite a few places on line have them for very reasonable prices.

They have silver edges and darker painted "wheel openings" which is the part of the wheel behind and around the silver edges. I want the "wheel openings" to be near black to go with my red and black color scheme.

Some of the ads say "dark argent wheel openings" and some of them say "dark charcoal wheel openings." The pictures that go with the "dark argent" are generally a lighter shade of gray, the pictures that go with the "dark charcoal" appear to be near black. I want the near-black ones so I thought that "dark charcoal" is what I want . . .

However, I have been told that there actually is only one color ; the different names are just different names for the same thing, and the different appearance in the photos is just a trick of the light or the camera.

Does anyone know the real scoop here ; specifically is there such a thing as an OEM 2010-style GT500 wheel with near-black wheel openings?

thanks in advance

Argent is charcoal gray. Probably just different lighting or angles on the pics.

If you are referring to the true '10 GT500 convertible wheels (p/n M-1007-DC1895), they are argent gray that looks very simlar to my Alloy paint. Keep in mind, there are some '10 "styled" wheels that could have black colored spoke openings (like ones offered by AM).

thanks broke and Doogie . . . yes those are the ones I am talking about, the ones that came on the 2010 GT500 verts

gray really doesn't work with my car so I guess I will have to look harder at the knock-offs such as American Muscle . . . I would prefer to stay OEM but it looks like that is not going to work out

Check out these pics as it may change your mind on going with the OEM rims as they looks great IMO on a red car.

To give you an idea, I've got those from Cruizing Concept, and they are definitely black

I have the OEM GT500 18" wheels for my winter set up and they are nearly black. I think the comparison to Alloy on the 05-09 cars is a good one.

As stated above, the OEM ones are Argent. Period. That's all Ford made/makes on those. However, it's a very dark argent, and is very good looking. But it is in fact not black.

Any other ones are knockoffs, and come in black on the pockets. However, as Ford would haul their buttocks in court, they only sorta mostly kinda LOOK like the GT500s, but the angle of the pocket material is *straight* versus Ford's angled material in the pockets.

I prefer the meatier look of Ford's pockets, and would pick the OEM ones over the knockoffs any day of the week.

And if it was a *huge* deal, they'd go to a good body shop and get the pockets painted black.

My opinion is to get the original OEMs and love them.

hmmmmm, great pics, yes they do . . . I have the black plastic trim on my car and want the wheel color to be close to that . . . .

. . .
that is the other reason I prefer the OEM's also -- the meatier angled spokes

I wish I could see some in person before I buy them . . . gotta look around for a GT500 vert on a lot somewhere near here, so far no luck with that . . . great for now guys, if I do go with them I'll report back with pics! (I'm also looking at black bullitt wheels, love the way they look, but the problem is they don't clear big brakes so that would be an issue someday when I upgrade my brakes . . . I'm so confused!)

It's been my observation that the 2010 vert wheels are lighter than the 19" forged coupe wheels. Ford also did this with the 07-09 wheels - the ones that came on the GT500s stock were machined/dark charcoal; the FRPP ones were machined/black.

Is the 2011 wheel painted/clear coat or machined/polished? 19" right?

pics of both would be nice... if you can do that. The 2010 18" seem really available, but the 2011 are hard to find. Also, are the 2011 staggered, and what are the widths and offset?

Thanks a lot !

Never knew there was a difference thank you so much! so is the lip on the vert wheels machined with argent color wells? I may have just made my mind up on wheels. Also huge thanks for posting that site great price.

My theory is the whole wheel starts out " argent ". The machining process removes the argent from the spoke & wheel face areas, which gives you the light / dark contrast.
