Aligning fender emblems?

Any thoughts/advice on perfectly aligning fender emblems on a '13 with no pins? Besides precise measurements is there a way to mark paint without harming it? Dry erase marker or maybe something else readily available at retail stores? I read about boxing in the emblem with masking tape - is that the preferred method?

Any help would be appreciated.

I saw an episode on tv where they were upgrading a mustang and used painters tape to mark the location of the emblem. Might be smart to measure from prominent points such as the ground and different points on the car to get the marks on your car for the tape. Plus side is you'll get a good visual of how the location will look by using tape. You can always adjust the tape without ruining your paint. Hope this helps.

After careful consideration I believe this to be the best way. Thanks for confirming.

There's actually a template you can download from American muscle or look at starkey products page.

What do you have for an emblem now and what are you changing it to?

I have a base '13 3.7 that has no fender badges. I bought '68 'Mustang' script emblems and am wrestling with putting these on. I'm kinda diggin' the clean look I have now. *Sigh*
