Parking in the city you'd be lucky to find a parking spot with a 1 foot gap of total space to spare. Biggest spot I've ever parked in was with a foot in front and a foot in back to spare.

OK, that makes sense. We don't have parking that tight in Houston (at least the part I live and work in).

Wish I would have had something like this when me and a lady backed into each other in the WALMART parking lot around Thanksgiving

So does the plate top edges slip under the sensors? I kind of like my current license plate frames and might have to do surgery to make them fit. If this works, it is well worth the price.

Yes, the plate slips under the sensors.

Hi Tom, any update on peripheral sensing? I know you tested immediately behind but how far off to the side does it detect a garbage can?

No yet. I've been in the UK. I'll be back home on Thursday and I'll test this weekend.

I finally got a chance to do some testing today. At a distance of five feet, the detection zone extends about 6 inches beyond each side of the car. It continues to detect them at that extreme width to within one foot of the bumper.

Wow, that is pretty cool! For the price you get nice detection of the bumper ends, although I imagine the alarm is pretty much pinging on things directly in front of the sensors. Backing into a spot, it may detect the car but is really sensing the distance from the center of the bumper, not if you are getting to close on a corner. Really appreciate the Science Experiement! Will buy one of these soon!

I was a bit surprised too. I really expected it to lose detection much farther out than 1 foot.
