19" Tire diameter question? Nitto555 vs stock Zero Nero
19" Tire diameter question? Nitto555 vs stock Zero Nero
Sorry if this has been asked already. I noticed the Nitto NT555 275/35/19 offered from Late Model Restoration in their RTR wheel/tire package is only 26.6" in diameter, while the Stock Pirelli tires are 27.7". That's quite a difference. What are the side effects I should consider, if any. More fender gap? More gearing? Speedometer errors?
That's a great price for the package, but I want to be sure I'll be happy. Maybe I should buy a different tire that matches my stock tire's diameter.
I noticed that the 275/40ZR-19 CONTINENTAL Extreme Contact DWS is a perfect match and probably will get me longer tread life. I've heard good things about this tire. Thanks for any info.

I have spent many hours and many days reading tire reviews for my next tires (standard 18" all season Pirelli). I love the tread design on a lot of other tires. Everthing always comes back to the Pirelli's that came from the factory, being the best overall tire for me.
Dave, its better to go a little smaller on the diameter than to go a little larger (i.m.o.). I went a little more in diameter on a set of tires years ago, made my car .2 tenths slower (0 to 60) on acceleration
. Tires and motor oil are the two hardest things to decide on.

I would go with something closer to the stock size. Those nitto's I think would be way to short. The conti's are great tires from what I have seen and read about them. Do you need an all season tire or do you only drive in the summer?

Also your sidewall height will be shorter, and probably ride a little rougher.
The 275/40/19 would be a good choice and keep you close to the stock height.
The calculation is 27" tall, the manufacturer says 27.2" tall.

good call! If you didn't need all seasons those hankooks listed above are very good summer tire. 186 a piece dicounttiredirect.com they are 198 with a 50 dollar rebate delivered to your door.
I don't know what they're going for nowadays, but I believe Yokohama had the best tires on tirerack.com for the price a couple years ago. Got a full set for $750, 18" tires. Food for thought.
