V6 Engine Cover Question

Does anyone know if the engine cover is paintable? Would like to be able to have it painted Sterling Grey and black to match the rest of the car. TIA.

I'm sure it could be painted, don't know how well the sterling gray would hold up to the underhood heat.

Plus it's foam based. In my experience, the paint will just crack and flake off even without the heat issues. I think some good options for color matching painting inside the hood is the strut brace and JLT sells color matched intake tubes. I almost tried to trade my carbon fiber tube for a color matched one.

I plan on painting the strut tower brace to match when I get one. Thanks for the heads up about JLT having color matched intake tubes. That may just be the push I need to get their CAI

I also have sterling grey and when he put it on and took a picture of it installed, I was like whoa. I will see if I can get Jay to post a pic of it for us so you can see for yourself since it's not listed on his website yet.

Here you go. There is also a picture of the OEM looking black which matches really well with the stock internals. Jay has a picture of the added bolt that earlier models didn't have either:

The textured Plastic/OEM look is $259 and the colored is $289. I think he can match most colors, but you need to check ahead of time to see if he can.

Many, many thanks! The SG looks really good. How well do you think the color matched intake will hold up over time say versus the CF?

I've had my CF intake on for about 10,000 miles plus and it looks just like new. I can't say about the paint, but if it is primed and painted properly I don't see it being a long term issue.
