tuned 11-13 sixxers

I was one of the few that are scared to death about tuning and being stranded in parking lots and what not but the good outweighed the bad in this case and went ahead and ordered a sct tuner from AM last night because I really wanna"jailbreak" my car haha

One thing so far I didnt like about the process is that the 19 questions they ask are so vague, they didnt even ask of it was manual or auto so I had to add quite a bit of info into the comments box.

Now so we have some discussion going, did you really feel the different when you tuned your car even with the 87 street tune? What was different? Anything bad different?

I originally wanted to go with Steeda but theirs was $30 more after a coupon lol, every penny counts when youre in college

Ive had many cars tuned and have never been stranded. AM is a great company, and I haven't seen any issues with SCT since the newest firmware. Enjoy your tune!

I have the AM tune on my 6-Banger for about 1month now and I am riding with the 89performance. I notice that the exhaust got a little louder and deeper. On idle I notice the car feels much nicer. I been doing 29mpg with 75% freeway and 25% city. I am as well a college students

It will I was impress. Another reason why I was impress is that it takes off faster as soon as u hit the gas. Later on I will try the race tune but for now I am ok with the performance

Thats awesome! Should I run the 89 tune then? Will the 87 tune even make any difference to stock then?

I have done my research and 87 street tune makes a very little differences over stock and then 89 performance. 89 performance is like 50/50 meaning 50 of street with 50 of race. I notice a difference but I would imagine that 91 race will really bring it out. If your looking it too better MPG go with performance or street if you don't care then run race tune

The only reason why an axleback would drop your MPGs is because you would be on the gas more often to hear the exhaust. Other then that it won't affect your avg MPG.

I don't know if it's the placebo effect or not, but it seems like they improved it or I just toned my driving down, I honestly can't see how an exhaust would lower MPGs, haha well I like the even look all around not two different shades, tuner comes in wednesday so im excited. I have a full tank of 87 in right now so I can't use the 89 tune yet

Also note what fuel you are using. are you using 87 octane, or 89? this will also make a difference (though minimal). I broke in my car with 89, when i switched down to 87, i am averaging about .3 MPG less. with my commute being 70% highway and 30% city. I feel like with a tune this may make more of an impact.

I just said I have a full tank of 87 lol, but yeah I understand. I'm gonna switch over to 89 after this tank runs out, I will start out with the 87 tune for about a week I suppose.
