Taking the plunge, ordered BBK Shorties and FRPP X Pipe
I was going to do just the Borla S catback for now but I'd rather not spend 860ish. I'm also still undecided between the S and the Touring, recent youtube videos have me swayed towards the touring, then also trying to decide to do the catback or axleback. If I did a borla touring axleback, could I order the over axle pipes later? I see the pipes are available seperately for the GT is V6 pipes the same bend?
Anyways I think I did pretty good on prices with coupon codes and such, first time ordering from latemodelrestoration so we will see how it goes
I saw theres a tool for exhaust pipe cutting has these 4 cutting wheels on it, anyone have this work well. Trying to do this all myself, I'm mechanically inclined any special tools for the header install needed beyond normal rachet wrenches and sockets?

a swivel and a foot and a half extension makes the header install much much easier. also a ratcheting box end wrench for the header bolts will help. the gt and v6 over axle pipes have the same bends but the gt is bigger around and will need to be welded on. you wont see much of a performance increase with adding a cat back or axle back. the main exhaust restriction is the manifolds and stock cats. there is a company that sells just the over axle pipes but i cant remember the name at the moment. does your state do emissions testing? if not i would delete the cats.

yea i have emmissions, and id keep the cats anyway i think these cars sound horrible without them
maybe ill just have the muffler shop do the over axle bends with new piping and get rid of the flat spotted stock piping

I considered that but yours didnt have clamps, I'd have to get it welded which is $$ and negates much of the cost savings, easier for me to cut and clamp myself with no welding

You can get clamps for about $20-$25 and you would still come out $80 cheaper but it's all good. Are you tackling the job yourself? Post up a sound clip, it's a good combo you have.

i believe they have the clamps at my local parts store for like $10 and a muffler shop shouldnt charge more than $25 to weld it on. i was only charged $30 for them to cut out pipe and weld in 2 resonators. thats will me supplying the resonators of course.

I had it on top of the pipe, it was either a 9 inch or 1 foot extension but it lets you get on it straight enough to break it loose. Me and swivels do not get along, I either break the swivel or my knuckles

Theres too much crap in the way I can barely even see the top bolt much less reach a hand or anything else up to it, I have a foot and a half of extensions, its not a straight shot from any angle

My Extension might have been more worn out, but I was able to get up next to the O2 sensor and just barely get it on, and with the other one loose all I needed was a 1/4 turn and then I was able to get it the rest of the way by hand.

Good luck with the passenger one. Went from the bottom to get it out with an extension. it sure did take some time and I think some wd40, If all the bolts where easily accessible it would cut down the time by at least half. But where's the challenge in that?

extension and swivel is the only way i could get it. i put my long tubes and x pipe on from start to finish in just under 3 hours. i encountered not problems at all when i did mine. these cars are like one of the easiest cars to work on ever and i work on cars everyday. bolts on these are extremely easy to get to and parts are easier to change than on most vehicles.
