Post STS

What kind of short throw shifters are popular with the Mustang crowd? I have heard Barton makes the best products and their price sure shows it. Does the Barton shifter have the best feel? Any opinions are welcome!

MGW is best bang for your buck.

It's going to have the best feel.

Thank you @Mach1Maniac! I am going to pick one up as soon as this semester is over and I have some money for the car! I do not like the feel of the stock shifter at all.

Another vote for MGW. They are the best you will buy. This is not fanboy or bandwagon but from people who have used more than one brand. I switched from a Steeda to MGW and there's no comparison.

I wouldn't say MGW is best "bang for the buck", it is the most expensive shifter you can buy....

Definitely gets a lot of love though. I have a Steeda shifter that I like better for a daily driver -- much quieter, much easier install, and much cheaper.

Actually the Ford Racing one made by Barton is the most expensive. I've had the Steeda one and Barton 2 post and while it was a good shifter it was no where near as good as my MGW. Just my .02 tho. Everybody's different in what they need and don't like.

Best bang for you buck as in what some of us put into our car as far as mods. Upgrading your shifter for a measly $300?-$350? As to what some pay for a full exhaust and possibly the install too. It is definitely worth it, especially for the MGW.

My point is that a price tag of $350 is cheap to me considering its one of the most important aspects of driving a manual and will make the biggest improvement towards the feel of driving the.

I still have yet to get the MGW but its definitely been on my to do list for a while.

Now if I could just find some extra spendable income lol.

True, I forgot about that one. Although it's really just a Barton with a **** and a Ford Racing badge, and the Barton is cheaper than the MGW.

Also, to whoever was talking about the prices, the MGW is not $300 - $350. It's $385 + shift ****, so realistically $415 - $425 by the time you're said and done. And I don't think you should be allowed to say MGW is the best if you haven't tried it -- or hopefully lived with it. It's a very nice shifter, but it is not quiet.

I haven't gotten around to putting in a short throw but have only heard excellent things about it.

I don't know if I'm ever worried about doing it though... My mach 1 5 speed ...to me, feels great! People complain about missing 3rd when honestly I don't see how that's possible on the mach 1 shifter... Just so smooth.

Rather put that money into a mid pipe

Love my billet shifter **** too
