Ported & Polished Intake Manifolds

Hey all, thought I would share my experience with installing ported and polished upper and lower intake manifolds that I got from Tom @ Lone Wolf Performance. To start I did this by myself in my garage and had a blast doing it. This is a great mod for us 11-14 3.7 guys as there are currently no options to install aftermarket manifolds. I started by contacting Tom @ Lone Wolf on a recommendation from one of the members on here and he told me $365 to do the work and ship the parts to me. I thought this was great b/c the company I was going to go with charges $500 to do the same thing (Super Six Motorsports). Next I ordered some new upper and lower manifolds from Tousley for $200 and had them shipped directly to Tom to be ported. I did this because I didn't want to leave the top of the engine dismantled while I waited for the parts from my car to be ported so I bought new ones. Once Tom got the intakes it took him about 4 days to complete the work and then a couples days to get to me. Once I got them I installed them in about 4 hours on a Saturday. Very easy install using a "1/4 socket wrench and 8mm socket mostly. The video below was very helpful and shows everything. I took a few short cuts which helped a lot (Didn't drain the radiator instead I just took off the hose at the thermostat & I didn't completely dismantle the fuel injectors like it shows in the video). I just recently got my tune dailed in for the extra air flow and I couldn't be happier!! I haven't had it dynoed but I think it definitely picked up the advertised 15hp/15tq. Its mostly in the mid to upper range. Overall I recommend this mod to all v6 guys, especially those building a 3.7 sleeper!

This pretty much describes it all:

Also if anyone is thinking about doing this but you don't want to have your pony down for any length of time while the work is done I have my original intakes for sale. I'll even ship them to Lone Wolf or the Vendor of your choice!

Awesome! I love that you don't know they're there until you mash the pedal. Looks completely stock from the factory. You can tell everyone you must have bought a factory freak lol.

Yep and now I fully realize why they call it "sleeper's port & polish" lol

No worries, I will post up a pic of the unported ones when I get home but you will be hard pressed to see alot of difference sine the manifolds are black and it's hard to see a difference in pics or the videos I posted above but trust me there's a difference!

Ok sorry it took me so long but here are the pics of my unported intake manifolds. Like I was saying you can't tell as much difference through the photos. One of the main things I can tell you is that if you look at the photo of the upper intake where the throttle body mates up to it the fins you see are removed on the ported one.

Thats awesome! Did you just contact BAMA and tell them you ported the upper and lower intake manifolds and they sent you a tune? Would porting just the upper IM have any effect?

Yep I did and then I sent them some datalogs so they could revise & get my tune dialed in. No you won't see much from doing just the upper. Nothing you would notice.

Thats great thank you! I didnt think the stock intake manifolds were that restrictive before we started to see these great hidden gains from porting them...

There are lots of little imperfections due to the molding and manufacturing process. So yes, there's some extra material in there.

I just dont get it...how does shaving off a couple ounces of plastic give so much? Also if there is more removed in the upper intake than the lower, then why that wouldn't help out? It sounds fishy...

It comes down to added CFM and smoother flow. They are also straightening any bends etc. It's definitely not fishy. Ported manifolds are a tried and true performance mod. I didn't get any low end, all of my power got produced above 3-3500 rpm.
