Go with the supercharger on your 6. I hang with GT's on the track just fine. Road America, Black Hawk Farms, Autobahn etc. The only cars i have trouble with and Leguna Secas and Porsches. Be unique. My V6 came with all the GT suspension bits as it was the performance pack. So purchasing a GT would only have gained me 2 extra cylinders. I am one of the rare few that had a mod plan and roadmap even before walking into the dealership to order my V6. Litterally everything i did to my 6 i would have done to a GT so why pay more than what i had to right away, especially since alot of things are now getting replaced or deleted for the track.
As to your original question, long tubers will help with more power, but the best power for dollar adder will be a supercharger. I saved for 2 years and paid cash for the kit, install and dyno tune. I could not be happier. Plus it is all worth it when after a track session other drivers come up assuming i have a V8 and i pop the hood and show them a supercharged 6. Even my tuner said i certainly took the path less travelled with my car.

Procharger P-1SC-1. My numbers are 415 to the wheels and 355 ftlb torque. I just ordered a pulley today for my upcoming pulley swap and retune that should get me to 450 at the wheels.

That's awesome. You can even beat a full bolt on GT! And still be a less expensive car! Making everything worth it!

I'd say it totally depends what you are looking for. Just the other day I had a guy in a 93-97 Z28 Camaro, with what I would guess a catback pulled up next to me at on a back road and we had a little fun and I put him in my rear view from a roll of about 40-80 or so. When he pulled up next to me he said hey man you're 5.0 is pretty quick, the face he made when I told him it's a six cylinder was a look of total embarrassment.
Point being, if you're just looking to make a quick street car that can retain decent mileage, the 3.7l is a great platform. Not to mention you don't see a ton of modded V6 Mustang's, Camaros etc so you have the chance to make something unique. The V6 is an under dog car, but it can run really well with even just bolt-ons and gears. If you just absolutely have to have a V8, then save your mod money and sell your car and buy the V8. It doesn't take much to make a fast V8, it takes a crazy man too make a fast V6!

Well said. I've had more than one occasions where people told me nice V8 when i had my 2014 3.7L.
I did make it unique. Very unique; GT owners rolling down windows and giving thumbs up felt very very nice!

Even though I have a GT, there's nothing wrong with the V-6 (or I-4 Ecoboost). But what you like, it's your money. In fact, my favorite car of all time only comes with 6 cylinders, the Porsche 911.

Good conversation here. The sound of the V8 is what a lot of enthusiasts are after plus of course they respons well to mods, but a FI V6 is rare and make a great sleeper. Plus BOVs sound cool too. Not what one expects to hear when pulling up to S197.
I can see both sides of the coin here.

I did love my V6, sold it and got a GT, i don't think i can look back now.
But buy what you can, love what you have, and enjoy every bit of it! Every V6 doesn't have to be FI. I was pushing 309hp at the wheels full bolt on n/a. It was just a great feeling to mod the car both aesthetically and mechanically. I do miss it. I always will.
