No you're completely right. I do a good job keeping the outside of my car cleaned and waxed frequently but definitely neglect the engine compartment too much. I will get that cleaned up nicely within the next few weeks.

You should take a look at MRT-Direct's procharged V6 track car. I made a visit to their shop and can say, when they started it I was pretty impressed! That car is a beast for sure. These V6's are starting to impress me more and more!

Well my lag at high RPM came back and now I think I really know what the problem is. It's the air filter!! I removed the air filter and the car drives like a completely different animal with no lag. If you notice in the pics under my hood, that air filter is kind of not in the best place. It touches the hood when it's closed. And I suspect that the hood is blocking a good 1/3 of the surface area of the filter and I bet that is what is causing airflow issues. I took it off and zero lag.

hmm...does anybody have any ideas on what to do? I really don't want to drive around without an air filter.

No way to adjust the filter to sit lower?

The problem is how the air inlet tube is setup. There's not a heck of a lot of room to move it without really forcing it which I think could cause other flow issues. I'll see if I can figure out a way to move it just a little.

Man this is expensive for a piece of mesh, but I'm thinking of replacing the air filter with something like this...

@ OP. Have you any other power adders besides the ProCharger?

I am asking because I am in the process of modding my V6, and will be adding BBK LTH and catted Xpipe soon, perhaps this coming weekend. On paper my car should be at 365HP with tune and all my mods. At this point I have no numbers to back that up. I am guessing this is at the crank. Procharger prefers their SC be added to a stock vehicle as it adds 50 - 60% power. That would put my sixer 547HP at the crank. That is a bit more that I want to push it as it is a daily driver. I am assuming it can be run at lower boost?

Have you dyno numbers on your sixer with the SC?

I do have lots of bolt-on mods on it actually. BBK LTH, catted X-Pipe, BBK TB, Maganflow Catback. But overall, it's a fairly conservative tune. I haven't had any issues. Not so sure I'd want to push 547 HP though. I don't think you'd quite be at 547 HP at the crank with the supercharger and the mods I have with the canned tune though. Probably closer to around 490-500 at the crank I think unless you do a dyno tune. Like I said the canned tune is conservative.

No I haven't had mine dyno'd. Your boost is actually going to be lower by default with a free-flowing exhaust too. And yes, Procharger prefers their canned tune to be used on a stock car. They made me sign recognizing that their tune wasn't intended for a modded car. Honestly though I still trust their tune more than I'd probably trust most others to do a dyno tune. Too many horror stories I've read. My engine is holding up great at this point. I have about 52,000 miles on the car and about 3,000 since installing the Procharger. And I've probably been in boost 50 times since installing it.

Thank you for all of the additional information. If you had to hazard a guess, what do you think you are making at the crank?

Since you are using the canned tune on a modded car, is it taking full advantage of the mods?

Did you install the SC yourself? We have a authorized procharger retailer/installer here that will do the install and do a dyno tune.

Have you added a gauge pillar/pod, or are you just using a boost gauge?

Not a problem on the information

If I were to guess, I'd say I probably have about 490 at the crank. I'm definitely not taking full advantage of the mods. The canned tune is very conservative. So a dyno tune will for sure get you quite a bit more HP. But I'm still making more HP with the mods and the canned tune then having it completely stock with the tune.

I did not install it myself. It's not an extremely complicated install, but I'd rather pay somebody for their time to do it. It only cost me about 1400 for the install which I think is very fair from a local auto shop that I trust. If you have a certified installer, it's a heck of a lot easier to have them do it. And if they know what they are doing with the tune that's even better. But definitely make sure they really have tuned these 3.7's before and you aren't their first experiment

I also have the aeroforce guages with the speed of sound pillars. I actually haven't installed my boost sensor yet though. That was my plan for this weekend.
