2013 V6 wheel upgrade question?

Alright, so I'v ordered my 2013 Mustang that I'll be getting in February when I come back from deployment. I've made a list of new mods I want, and new wheels are close to the top of it.

I'm wanting to put 18x8's on... will I have any clearance issues when putting those on, since the stock V6 wheels are 17x7?

If anyone can give any insight to this, it would be much appreciated!

you'll have no issue at all. you could go bigger or wider if you wanted actually.

I'd go 18x9 in front 18x10 in back. No clearance issues and you speedo/ gas mileage will remain accurate.

How would this work with the TPMS kit? I know American Muscle gives you the option for buying this when you make a wheel and tire purchase, but is it really just as simple as opening the UPS box with the wheels and slapping them on my ride?

Yeah. You get them balanced and such, and then mount them. Most tire/wheel shops can program the TPMS sensors to your car. Easy as that.

I bought a new set of sensors so I could sell the old ones in a tire package. It's that simple to get new ones installed or put the old ones back in. They cost be 78 shipped on eBay. Tire shops will sync the new sensors if you go that route.

Leaving the old sensors in the old tires helps the sale to recoup some of your costs.

If you have the stock 17" wheels/tires, it's going to be hard to sell them for any kind of good money. I would probably save them and use them for either winter wheels (if you live in a place that gets snow/ice) or track wheels if you want to road race. Then take the TPMS sensors off of your stock wheels and transfer them to the new wheels at pretty much any tire shop.

To give you an idea of what fits, I have a 2012 V6 with the Performance Package, and it comes stock with 19x8.5" wheels, and I can go a lot bigger. I would recommend either 18x9 and 18x10 or 20x9 and 20x10 if it's in your budget. I know 20"s sound big for a car, but they look right on newer muscle cars. Plus they're more likely to fit a big brake kit if you want to upgrade down the road, and they just fill out the wheel wells better.

I sold my split spoke stock wheels for $400 to a 2006 v6 owner. He was thrilled to get them as he was riding bald. They looked great over his factory 16s.

Yeah, I was planning to keep the stock wheels for the winter, and then switch them back over when it gets warm again.

LUCKY13DIB,

If you order new TMPS sensor for the new wheels/tires, they will arrive mounted/balanced on the rims already. Then you'll just need a simple too to sync all of the sensors to your computer. This process is really easy, we actually sell a kit with an instructional DVD included, to walk you through step-by-step! Then when you switch your wheels over to the stockers for winter, you can use this tool again to quickly sync on other sensors back.

If I need to clarify anything or you have more questions, just let me know!
