Is a hood/bumper swap possible without any other modifications? Just curious.
I am considering getting a GT bumper for my V6 from a local seller. But, I may wait for newtakeoff.com to start selling the 2013s if I can just change the hood and need no other mods.
Any insight appreciated.

 

You will have to modify the grill surround and top grille. The 2013 V6 comes with the GT bumper, which requires the GT grill surround and top grill (or an aftermarket grille for a GT, which are basically most aftermarket grilles). The hood should be a direct swap.

 

Headlamp openings and shapes, and front side marker lamps are all common on 2010-13 models. No need to change headlamps unless you want a different look than what came with your car.

If you are using a 2010-2012 GT front bumper intact with the grilles already installed then yes it is a direct swap. If you are buying in pieces then you have to make sure you get the grille surround to mount the GT/Boss/CS grille of your choice.

If you wait for 2013 take off's with the front bumper intact including the upper and lower grilles already installed then all you need is a 2013 hood or 2010-12 Shelby GT500 hood for things to match up.

Personally I like the 2010-12 power dome hood the best. If you like the look of the GT front fascia then just swap for that.

I actually plan to go the opposite direction, change the front end of the 2013 to a 2010-12.
I can find the bumper covers and grills no problem, but the hood is pretty tough to get a hold of. Not many people straight out swap the hood and those that do are reluctant to ship one because it's so big.

 

I have a brand new 2012 hood for sale ($500), but how do you ship something like that?

Okay, i found out how to do it, but I don't know what it's going to cost. Assuming the worst, let's say $300 for shipping. If you can't find one locally, I'll sell you my hood for $800 including shipping charges. If you're interested, PM me, and we can work out the details. The hood is performance white, btw.
