Mod Suggestions?
Hey guys,
I ordered a 2013 DIB V6 (with Recaros and exterior appearance package) about a month ago.
I'm serving in OEF though, so I won't get it until February when I come back from deployment. I'm trying to make a tasteful list of mods I'd like to do to my new car once I get back to the states.
- Here's what I'm thinking so far:
- Tinted windows 35%
- Painted mirror covers
- Boss 302 grille kit (or blackout grille, haven't decided yet)
- I like the stock wheels, so I'm going to get them powder coated but leave the lip of the wheel as is.
- K&N Filter
Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I have to disagree with LtngDrvr. Mod it while you can, because your fortunes may change and you'll have to drive it the way it is.
I had my base V6 almost completely modded before it was two months old.
- Window tint
- Lowered
- Wheels/tires
- Body kit
- Hood
- Grille
- Gauges
- Painted mirror covers
- Le Mans stripes
In progress:
- custom wheel caps (nobody else has anything like these, and will have cost $130 by the time they're done - I'm gonna six so I have a couple of spares).
- more grist for the badgeholes*
I still have to do the following:
- paint the chrome trim in the cockpit satin black ($12)
- leather covered steering wheel
- single-piece drive shaft ($700)
- axle-backs ($500)
- GT-350 taillights (if possible - I think they look better than the 2013 taillights, and I'm not interested in the taillight panel that appears to go with them) - ($???)

* With the recent heated discussions regarding badging of cars, and to avoid having the thread hi-jacked, you can email me if interested). This is a minor mod and should be done by next weekend.

Lucky,
What are you going for more?? Looks or performance or handling?? There are many answers to your questions. If you are more into exterior looks then that is a good list. If you are looking to add performance/handling mods then that is another story. Let me or the boys at Steeda know what your looking for and we can price some stuff together to reflect the military discount we offer.
PM and we can see if our products fit your needs. We are an American company with a Made in the USA commitment.
Thank you for your service and be safe.
Best Regards,
TJ

The first thing I'd like to tackle is the exterior, with minor performance mods down the road. I don't plan on racing the car at the track or anything, and people honestly will see my car a lot, so I'd like to do things to it that will make it stand out and be different.
Besides all that, I ended up with a completely unique car (for the geographic area, anyway). NOBODY in San Antonio has a car that looks like mine, which is both good and bad - the good part is the uniqueness - the bad part is that at cruise-in meets, the V6 guys won't talk to me because they think it's a V8, and the V8 guys find out it's a V6 and won't talk to me because it's not a V8, and the Shelby guys won't talk to me because it looks too much like a Shelby without actually being one. I'm in a kind of Mustang no-man's land.
Because a I wouldn't have been able to afford the mods if I had spent the extra $8k on a GT, and b) power isn't the most important thing for me (i'm old and my reflexes ain't what they used to be).

with your setup, but it seems more likely there are a disproportionate number of jerks at your cruise-in.
I imagine I'll be hearing from the badge ***** here as a result.

Did you know you can send any 2011+ Mustang (including a V6) to Shelby American, and for as little as $10k, you get a "post-title" Shelby back? I'm not sure exactly how it works in terms of timing, but they do it kinda like Roush does it (in terms of "stages"). They use the same body kit used on the GT-350s (which are also post-title Shelbys) with a deep-draw hood.
Their supercharged "stage 3" V6 makes 475hp. Google "Shelby GTS".
