Vortech install cometed... Questions?
Have posted before several time about doing the install and now it's finished.
What I'd love to know if this is normal... As Im driving and taking it very easy the blower is making a constant noise..... Kind of sounding like my front brakes are squeaking like mad.
Also in second gear if I punch it my exhaust backfires which leads me to believe detonation but I can't tell, there's so much noise.
Now driving normal the vacuum is around 16 to 20 and in 3rd let's say and I'm half peddling it goes up to 0 to 3....is this normal?
I am afraid to give er and make problems.
Someone ease give some advice... Thanks in
Advance.

Being an internally gear-driven centrifugal supercharger, the Vortech is going to make a constant whine whenever the engine is running. Totally normal. The pitch of the whine will change with engine RPM.
Regarding the backfiring, this is probably due to improper A/F ratios. I personally wouldn't go wide open throttle with it until you can get a good tune for it. If you get into the throttle and hear a rattling sound from the engine, get out of the throttle immediately. This is what detonation sounds like.
The vacuum readings on your boost gauge are also normal. It will take a good bit of throttle to get the gauge to go to 0 and into positive boost. Boost will climb higher and higher in line with your engine's RPM. The higher the RPM, the more boost.
You have spent a good bit of money on a quality blower kit for your car so I would advise you to not skimp out on a good tune to keep things safe. Get a dyno tune from a reputable tuner if you can. Best of luck.

I just got done with a vortech install on mine.
Yes the noise is normal, the BOV is constantly dumping boost when you see vacuum, that is what you are hearing.
The tune by far is the most important and critical part of the install. If not done correct things can go bad real quick

things going bad. There's lots of experience at steeda though and I've never heard of things going south just good reviews.
Nothing but good things said in the area I'm in about steeda....but all have roots style blowers though....mmmm.
Id suggest going over to the svtperformance forums.
There is a lot more knowledge over there as far as every type of power adder.
Not trying to knock steeda, that was just my experience. I rarely hear of someone that is FI using a steeda tune.

Seems I have further issues...
What's your inlet air temp reading?.....I just looked at mine and it's reading 80f.... What the "F"!
How's that possible with having a inner cooler...
It's 78f outside right now.

Don't need a dyno, all done on the street.
It's actually the preferred method with the new cars since they come with factory wide band o2 sensors.
Real world loads and the ability to nail down all the drive ability aspects is what makes it great.

[QUOTE="Tron84;6833341"] You sure Lund or AEM wont tune it? It's all remote tuning so you would think you could be anywhere in the world.[/QUOTE
I just looked at there site and your right, they can set me up with a tune... All I have to do is data log and share the info with them till we get it right.
I have heard Lund is really good but didn't figure it was possible for me to get a tune.
Wonder how long the process would take.
What tune did you go with by the way?

Now how long did it take you as well to get the tune right and work properly at WOT.
To the op, so you're telling me you bought and installed a vortech kit with no tune???
