I would like to upgrade my mustang next year with a supercharger. I am torn between the vortech and roush. It is a 2011 5.0 manual. What are your opinion. Thanks in advance
Both are good and you'll get plenty of opinions here. To me, the Roush (and other positive displacement blowers) look more "finished" when installed versus the centrifugal units. That being said, I went centrifugal (ProCharger) when I did mine.
Two different power curves. I've had both styles on the same car previously. Between those two the Roush will give you comparable hp but more torque and it will come on earlier. The other will give you more high end hp but less torque and will build power higher in the rpm range.
To me having the extra torque and not having to rev as high is more fun however it does make traction an issue.
It really does boil down to personal preference. Traction was a factor in my decision, plus I don't always follow the beaten path (I do own a Corvair). Either type of supercharger will give gobs of power and be a blast to drive.
I agree, buy what you like. They will both give you lots of power just different power curves. If you buy a Rousch you will need a different tune than the one they provide. Same for the Vortech. I just dropped an Edelbrock in mine and it screams. The shop owner who installed it and I know personally called me after he test drove it and told me to take it easy going home.
On a related, but slightly off topic inquiry, is there a strut tower brace that will fit over the Roush S/C? I'm considering the phase II Kit, but I like the brace.

It is 6 to one half dozen to the other unless you plan on building your motor as they all have tha capability with the right mods to make enough power to blow the motor. I personally like the DOB Stage 3 kit as it has the best intercooler on the market which will yield in lower IAT's.
Also, I like the GT500 KR strut tower bar as it looks much better IMO.
Go VMP. Justin Starkey uses a TVS supercharger like Roush but his kit is way better, worth the extra dollars. I know from experience. I purchased a Roush it. I then did research and purchased the VMP plug and play wiring kit prior to install. I paid $140 for the Roush tune with their voucher. It was a big mistake. I drove my car with the Roush tune for 6 months. I broke down and went with the VMP tune from Justin Starkey. and all I can say is it felt like I added a second supercharger. So in retrospect, I would have went with the VMP TVS setup. It would have saved me a little cash in the long run and it has a boat load more power than the Roush kit because the Roush tune is so conservative.

Wow, that's a really nice car. I agree about the DOB, my only problem there is that I have to hire my local tune/speed shop to do the install and they only do Pro-Chargers and Whipple kits as far as I know. I'm going to drive out to get a Dyno Tune soon and while I'm there I'll try to convince the owner to consider an install for a DOB kit. They are an official Pro-Charger shop so my hopes aren't too high that they'll do this.
I would say the best three to go with would be, in particular order here, VMP, Whipple and Roush. Again, this is my personal opinion and that's in no particular order. Great products and great customer service.
GOOD LUCK!
