Why doesn't Steeda or one of the major companies start making an intake without the sound tube opening? There should be intakes with the opening completely deleted and it just be smooth intake all the way down.

Was thinking the same exact thing the other day, while I was deleting my tube. Seems like a common enough delete.

I plan on swinging by advanced auto today to pick up the firewall plug. My intake plug is already supplied by airraid. So is removal of the sound tube from the firewall end just a simple tug? Or are there screws?

I hope capping the intake does make a difference in smoothing out the air flow.

It's bolted to the driver side inner fender lip

Thanks.

Now that you mention it, I had to remove this at one point when I installed my MRT struts... Then reinstalled them upside down per the instructions. I should have removed this completely at that point. Grrrrr.

Does Sound Tube Add Sound

I only have 325 miles on my 2014 GT so I have not had it over 4000 RPM yet and haven't hammered it, waiting for 500 miles. When are you able to hear the effect from the sound tube?

Same here... When I installed the struts (and then the CAI), that's when I realized what waste of plastic/space that thing was and deleted it shortly after...

My K&N came with a plug to cap it at the firewall and the CIA doesn't have this. It has MAF, Crankcase Vent Tube Fitting and Auto Trans fitting or bung to insert if a manual.

What / When does the sound tube function?

Curious about this. I only have 700 miles on my 2014 GT but so far I have not heard any sounds from the sound tube. What the heck does it do and when?

The sound you hear when you get on it IS the sound the tube sends into the cabin, it's just amplified by that tube a bit.

I installed GT500 mufflers, removed the tube and couldn't tell a difference ...

Same here, I removed mine when I installed the Airaid intake and I couldn't tell the difference. I even reverted back to the stock intake for a day and still didn't notice anything.

It's 10 minutes spent and satisfying getting rid of useless junk. Cleans up the engine bay nicely too. To each his own...
