Protruding Fuel Line Hose??

In the process of installing my GT500 axle back exhaust, I noticed something peculiar (to me, at least). The hose running from fuel door to the fuel tank is encased and zip-tied, with a slit along it, and has a smaller hose that's apparently not connected to anything protruding from it.

What in the world is this and should it be protruding this way? I don't think I did this in the process of the installation, but now I'm not sure...

Vapours actually have to be recaptured, according to the law of the land.
The evap canister is under the spare tire well with a plastic cover over it.

This would likely be an overflow hose for the interior fuel door.

I installed GT500s yesterday. I have the same hose, it's some sort of vent.
