Potential buyer.... what mods to start with?
I may be buying a 5.0 before to long and I was just wondering what bolt ons to start off with. I'm going to try my best to get a 373 M6 car. I was thinking intake and tune to begin with but wasn't sure. Also what are the differences in intakes. A friend of mine has a JLT on his 07. In the Fbody world a air box lid is a lid no matter the brand but wasn't sure on these. Also the car will end up catless sooner or later what axle back will go well with longtubes to keep it fairly tame and keep a good sound. I know its personal preference but I thought I'd ask.
Intake - any of the big names is fine, tune is what you wanna be picky about. As for exhaust Roush with headers is far from tame but by themselves they are great. Stainless Works or Pypes has full systems with catbacks that sound good.
The intake has not been proven to provide any performance gain. When you have guys on the cusp of the 10's with a stock airbox and paper filter, you have to question the "cold air" intake.
First mod should be exhaust. It will make the car 100% more enjoyable, unless you like a silent car.
Second mod should be a Barton shifter bracket (or equivalent) or an MGW shifter. Missing shifts sucks.
Third mod should be lower control arms and relocation brackets. If you can't put the power down and have wheel hop, you are not going fast.
Fourth mod should be a tune, if you do not feel the car is quick enough. A tune opens the door to deleting the cats, properly adjusting for a CAI if you find you want one, and making the cam adjustments that will really dial in the car.
Fifth mod is traction (tires) and longevity. Girdle for the rear and one piece driveshaft.

My stock exhaust didn't last much longer than yours, but Justin seems very inexperienced when it comes to modding and upgrades. I suggested this approach to help keep him from purchasing a part that he really doesn't want or may not be compatible with something he already has or the direction he is trying to take his car.
