Paddle Shifters for 13/14 automatic

Today the car wouldn't downshift. The transmitter seemed to have power as indicated by the red LED in it.
I contacted Philip and he said to hold the button down. If it starts to flicker, then the battery is low. I checked that and after 10sec it flickered, so I will try replacing the battery.
He then said that if the transmitter needs replacing, he can sell me one for $50 ...
At that point he lost me as a supporter of his product.
I had these only a few months and one of the transmitters dies? Fine, replacing the battery is easy enough, but what if it is the transmitter? I have to buy another from him for $50 when I was sold that faulty transmitter (if indeed it is the transmitter)?
I had purchased an extra paddle housing from him in case I messed up one trying to sand it down to make it look smooth, so I have already plunked down $310 US for this plus shipping costs. None of that is at issue, though. His 30 warranty doesn't cut it.
I no longer recommend this product. Too much effort to make it look nice and not homemade, and expensive if any of the parts need replacing.
I will look into the 2015 steering wheel and see if that may be an option.

sn't look like the 2015 wheel can be used. In the new car, there is now a new module called the steering wheel control module. Most of the signals from the wheel buttons go to this module which then translates them and sends the signals to the relevent modules in the car.
I don't have the resistances of the 2015 buttons, but I suspect that the cruise resistances are different (they MIGHT be the same as the cruise for 05-12). Mute will be an extra button.
Someone like Matt may be able to make something to translate the signals, but he has been quite busy lately. Another problem is that 13/14 cars with the 5Dpad and navigation only have 1 empty slot on the clock spring. There are 3 wires that need to go through the clock spring. One is ground, so that can be shared with the ground that already is there, so that leaves one wire for up or downshift. You now have the last shift wire that cannot go through the clock spring.
Maybe I can think of something, but the best bet is to get a 2015 wheel and take it apart to get the paddle shifters and somehow modify the current wheel and attach them.
Some serious work here. Looks like the only real option right now is those 3D printed radio transmitter paddles from ebay ...

There may be a possibility with these:

looks like we may have a winner:

Didn't know these were so popular for adding paddle shifters.
Maybe I lied and I may go further. These look really promising and easy to attach. Not illuminated, but that is ok.
They are cheaper here:

There is no reason why this won't work. The only problem is the wiring as I outlined previously.
I'll keep everyone posted.
