Muffler Deletes

Anybody else going with muffler deletes? I took off the stock mufflers for a day and wow did it sound mean. I expected it to sound like a broken exhaust system, but it sounded deep and had a nice growl to it. A nice raspy note at shift too.

I ordered the Maganflow competition deletes this week, it was the only ones I could find that are available and I don't want to cut anything.

Muffler delete sounds mean on a 4.6 manual tranny car, I will be looking forward to hearing it on a new 5.0.

Didn't notice any drove, but didn't have them off too long. With no mufflers the rest of the pipes bang around, the mufflers are the only things holding the back half in place.

Never got it above 65 or so with them off either.

I ran my Mark VII for about a year without mufflers- with 4 cats and lengthy tailpipes it wasnt loud in normal driving, but if stomped it made a little bit of racket...I put mufflers back on it before we took it on a out of state trip, just in case, but it wasnt really bad at all... stepping on it, it sounded 'truck-like' didnt have the rumble I expected...smaller motors dont sound that good with big open pipes IMO, needs something to get the raspiness toned down...

by far the best sounding Mustang Ive heard was a local guys with 'corsa' axlebacks...sounds a deep almost bigblock rumble in normal driving, and gets pretty loud at WOT...sounds a lot bigger than 281...but think he said he paid like 700 for the mufflers- no thanks

Great info...thanks for sharing your impressions!!

Does the 5.0 have 4 cats like the 4.6 3v cars? I always assumed that this was part of the reason that you could get away without mufflers.

I have the SLP Loudmouth (muffler delete) on my 2009...may mod them to fit on my '11 if it's not too absurdly loud.

Where do you see 4 cats on the 4.6 3v? I look under my car all I see is two after the headers.

Nice

Is this worth any Hp? or mostly for sound? BTW it sounds great. Im sure it takes some weight of the car too.

Yeah, S197 cars only have two cats, not four like older Mustangs.

Has anyone thought about removing the mufflers and getting straight pipes made? Just curious if it would work.

I think it will sound different once you put the extra pipping...vs...removing the mufflers and having the pipe right after the rear axle. That extra 2 1/2 feet of pipe make a difference.

I still loved how the 99-04 sounded with some flowmasters, they are so much deeper compared to the s197 because the muffler is right at the end of the system so you don't get that "hollowed throaty" sound
Anyone run into a good setup that uses mid mufflers to get that sound?

Just say no to muffler deletes. I can't believe people actually think they sound good.

Yeah, so why didn't you consider that before posting what you did?

You could have just posted that you don't care for the muffler deletes instead of bashing those who do like them.
