JLT's newest intake for Vortech/Paxton S/C'd 5.0's
JLT testing on 2011 GT 5.0 with a Paxton S/C.
All Vortech and Paxton supercharger kits are designed to use the stock airbox. As we all know this is a major restriction, so we jumped on Sean Kelley’s car to see what we had in the shop to improve on this and get some more power and faster time slips.
Sean car has an array of mods from an 8 PSI Paxton S/C kit, built bottom end, mild head work to a killer Fogger nitrous set up.
With the JLT Air Box, Sean drove his ride 2 hours to the VMP track busting out 28-30 MPG along the way, ran several 9.50’s and drove it home. Now that’s impressive!!
While at the track he removed the entire intake up to the blower and only bettered his time by .05 to a best of 9.45@ 146MPH.
The JLT Air Box consists of an ABS Heat that ties into the stock fresh air inlet in the grille as well as seals to the hood, a 4.5” Flow tube, Huge 4.5X9” S&B Powerstacked Air Filer, Silicone reducer and all clamps.
We did some dyno testing with the kit with some pretty good results. First we ran the car the way it comes from Paxton with the stock airbox in a blow through MAF set up. Then we swapped out the stock box for the new JLT Air Box and made a couple more runs.
The increased air flow resulted in an additional 1.5 PSI of boost and 20-30 RWHP and RWTQ increases through out the runs.
This is with NO TUNING as it’s a blow through set up. We also have a draw through set up with a large 110mm MAF.
JLT Air Box kits will be released the week of 5/9/11
BLOW THROUGH
ONLY $169.
DRAW THROUGH
ONLY $249
