OK, I have to ask. I have the extended warranty, will going to 500 mufflers and cutting out the resonators VOID the WARRANTY?

quick answer is that if you mod your suspension, the suspension and related components which may be affected will not be covered.
if you mod the exhaust same applies. Bad thing is if you have a problem powertrain wise they *may* ask you to bring the car back to stock to perform diagnosis.
whatever you cut out of your car keep in case you need to re-install at a later date.
as for a general rule exhaust mods do not VOID your limited or powertrain coverage. But it also depends on the service department you're dealing with.

Just for clarification -- this is what is contained in the warranty agreement between you and Ford Motor Company.
Damage Caused by Alteration or Modification
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover any damage caused by:
• alterations or modifications of the vehicle, including the body, chassis, or components, after the vehicle leaves the control of Ford Motor Company
• tampering with the vehicle, tampering with the emissions systems or
with the other parts that affect these systems (for example, but not
limited to exhaust and intake systems)
As part of Warranty Policy and Procedure the manufacturer must list a "causal part"; in other words a part is deemed failed or subsequently failed-- what actually caused the part to fail?
Now if it is found that the removal of a factory part is the root cause -- then viola! no coverage.
I get this question at work -- when a customer wants to add a mod. I don't instantly tell him that BMW will void his/her warranty, but if the part that you decide to add causes a failure -- you are on your own. So when guys are out bargain hunting for a turbo tune that causes detonation under boost conditions -- and cry when something goes wrong, i have no compassion.
btw: I know we are not talking about BMW -- I have administered warranty for Infiniti and Mercedes Benz also -- unless there is something that Ford does radically different 90% of car makers follow similar guidelines.

FWIW, Sean from AED tested the JPC ota pipes over on SVTP and picked up 6hp/7ftlbs at peak and about double that in the midrange. When you see how much the diameter pinches down at the resonator welds, you'd think they would be worth even more power

I've had my resonators cut out for well over a year now and love the sound with the GT 500's.

I just had mine cut out this morning and it sounds awesome. Not terribly different or louder but under high load and higher RPM, it's definitely louder and the tone is better. Putting around town at low RPM, it sounds a bit deeper and more mustang-ish.
