GT500 axlebacks installed

I put them on last night and love them! This is the perfect setup for me... quiet when cruising but noisy under throttle Install was 45 minutes, I didn't have to loosen h pipe or brackets, just dropped panhard bar on drivers side. If youre on the fence - buy them! I got mine from AmericanMuscle

SlowRiderr,

Great choice, the GT500 axle back is sick! I'm glad to hear the install was painless & that your enjoying them. Thanks for shopping with AM, we appreciate your business & loyalty. Let me know if I can be of any assistance in the future.

Yep, no resonators are the key. Can't wait for my O/R H and LT's.

To me it is not so much of what rpm but more of how much power you are asking for. They seem quiet under easy acceleration....but get loud with a burst of power.

Is it that noticeable of a change over the GT stockers? I've been going back and forth between the GT500's and a few others.

Yes there is.

I watched a video on youtube where a guy used a DB meter to measure the loudness of each set. The GT500's were louder.

Most manufacturers put a lot in the acoustic appeal of their cars.

Although they were ridiculously expensive, I paid 1300.00 for 2 mufflers and 2 clamps for my old 335i coupe. I continually got compliments on how the car sounded.…

look at all the work that Lexus put into the LFA exhaust system that has the Ferrari engineers peeved. the car exhaust note will break a champagne glass.

Im not saying these are the best mufflers, but they sure do sound good.

Yes a huge difference. Its definitely not a small change. And absolutely no annoying drone when cruising at any speed

Do I just chop them off and stick a straight pipe there with some exhaust couplers and clamps? They are located on the straight section after the h pipe correct?

Located just aft of the H pipe on the straight section. I had a shop cut mine out and weld in a section of pipe....$70.00.

my car responded well with just the muffler install... so I would think the adaptive features in the PCM will adjust accordingly. I felt a decent difference with the whole kit installed. The performance is not "beastly", but she does feel like a race horse on steriods

i use the k&n with no oil ... seems to do the job

used a k&n (oiled) on my old 93 5.0 and ran into maf sensor problems -- wouldnt pass smog... till i cleaned it up.

same on my 335.. they dont give you the warm and fuzzies when you open the hood, but i try to stick to what works for me

+1 remove your resonators. Gt500's without resonators is one of, if not the top sounding exhaust bang for your buck. No drone at all either.
