GT500 AB's

Are the aftermarket GT500 AB's the same sound note that comes on the GT500 as a stock AB?

Thanks to all

........but they will sound different based on the different engine in each car plus the GT has extra resonators if it is stock where the GT500 does not.

Yes, the GT500 Axle back that we offer are the exact same mufflers that come on the GT500's. AzPete made a good point. The Muffler is going to sound similar since it's the same, but it will have a slightly different note since the motor is different and the GT has extra resonators.

I run the GT500 Muffler on my 2011 GT with a set of Long Tube's and No cats. It sounds great and I couldn't be happier. There's no drone, quite when cruising but still screams when you're at wide open throttle! I have plans to remove the resonators as well to get a little better flow and some added noise.

I hope this helps with your decision. Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future!

I heard that you can cut the resonators out and the stock overaxle pipes will fit inside a piece of 3" OD stainless tubing and you can clamp them down. Is that a correct statement?

Or you could have them welded like many others have done.

I totally did not know GT500s don't come with the resonators stock, always thought all cars have them. It is a must then! I gotta remove it!? eh?

It would be nice if AM or another vendor would offer a resonator delete pipe(in stainless) that would be a clamp on or welded in piece. How 'bout it Dan?

Just like stereos and speakers, exhaust sounds are subjective. But, I really liked the GT500 axle backs over stock GT muffs, and even more so when I replaced the GT over axles with GT500 over axles. You may find that the over axles without resonators will sometimes give a "pop" on deceleration, but IMO it's not objectionable.

Yeah, in theory this should work. I'm not sue it's the "best" way but I don't see a problem with it. I most commonly see guys take it to an exhaust shop and have the resonators cut out and have a 2.75 or 3" straight pipe welded in!

I hope this helps.

This is a great idea. I'm going to get this suggestion over to our new product team and see what we can get in the works!

Thanks for the suggestion!
