WOW....just got back from 2 different exhaust shops here in Tampa. I asked what it would cost to cut out the resonators only and got this:

"It's gonna prob be an hours work..so we could do it for $140"
The other shop wasn't much better at $100

I finally talked to a friend of mine at a muffler shop and he said I could pay $15 a side and just tip the welder when it was done.

Going back Tuesday to get it all done.

Local shops in Panama City are all around $70-80. One shop said that it would be against the law to modify the exhaust in any way so they will not touch it....lol.

I just have to get off my backside and do this.....

you gotta find a true custom shop....not just a muffler place. I've taken every car I've had exhaust work on to the same shop for the last 10 yrs. I had my Roush's put on for $45. Those places will know what your talking about and not rip you off....plus they're usually car guys and own some muscle cars themselves.

That is the only type shops I deal with. Three custom exhaust shops with car guys.... The one that will do mine also did two '66 Mustangs I had in the past and also does many other classics around the area.

Now the shop I dealt with for 30 years in Az. would most likely not even charge me for this small job. Sucks having to build new business relationships after moving.

That sucks! How far are you from Ellenton? That is where I had mine done. The name of the company was Exhaust Solutions and is a father/son shop.

I'm just waiting for a shipping quote for Japan... At least they are lighter than some other Axlebacks!

One question while I wait...
The only aftermarket exhaust I've heard live was a Bassani. I think it was a catback. It was super loud! The Roush Axlebacks aren't that loud are they?
Did you buy yours in Japan or bring it?

It is like 2 miles west on 301 from I-75. They spent 15 minutes making sure the tips were lined up before welding it. Tell them I referred you, and the charge was $40 (just in case they try to bump it on you).

My Mustang or the Roush Axleback?

The Mustang was purchased in Japan from the new Ford Dealer in Shiga Prefecture. My Dad worked for Ford For 35 years, so I missed out on his discount by buying it here. However, tons of slight modifications would be necessary to make a recent vehicle pass customs when importing. It seemed cheaper just to buy in Japan.

I probably should have bought my dream 1970 Mach 1 and called it a day. All that has to do to pass customs is start up!!! Well, there's a little more than that I guess...

My Roush Axlebacks came from Steve at PureSpeed. He's always around the forums. Nice fellow and he got me a good price on shipping... Still not here yet, but I just tracked them and they are in Japan. Maybe today or tomorrow!!!

Hey Jeff,

Glad I could help you out with getting a set of the Roush Axlebacks to Japan!

You'll be happy to know they are in Japan as of today. I added your email address to the tracking system so you should get updates from here on out.

When you get them installed be sure to post some pics and let us know what you think.

Steve
