Well,

My wife drove my stang tonight and hit 100 mph on a 35 mph zone! I know unbelivable! Anyway, she tells me babe the exhaust is not loud enough! That surprised the hell out if me because my wife is very girly. Anyway, I think is time to swap my exhaust. I have the Roush axlebacks and looking at the flowmaster outlaws. Any opinions? Are they louder than Roush? Deeper tone? I will be selling the Roush cheap so pm me if interested. Thanks guys!

The Roush isn't loud enough?

Remove the resonators from under the car, it will be lots louder then and you won't have to buy a new axle-back.

If it's still not loud enough then, get a off-road x or H pipe.

If that's not loud enough then you and your girl must be deaf...

How about adding the Boss mid pipe with the Roush's?

Hytek,

Thats a good idea! How much louder will they sound? The other thing that worries me a bit about keeping the Roush is the stupid weld cracks that many have mentioned. Mine are solid so far but who knows if they will crack.

Lewis,

Windows were close I imagine. She went out for a cruise while I was driving my 79 f150 with the kiddos

Check out the thread Big Papi's Pony posted with his Boss mid pipe and Roush's. It's pretty sick!

Pull the resonators. It will get louder for sure. Other than that, there are not many mufflers that are louder than the Roush. Full Magnaflow competition cat back, Dynomax Race Bullet catback, Borla ATAK, various muffler deletes like Pypes, Heartthrob, Magnaflow, SLP, Doug Thorley. I have the Roush, X pipe with factory cats and no resonators and you can hear my car 2 miles away if I am in it.

The Roush is much much louder when heard outside of the car IMO

Driving with windows up it does not sound too loud

Will no resonators really increase volume that much?

That's with cats right?!? Niiice. Pretty loud!

Did it make it a lot more raspy or just increase in volume?

That is a 3 inch after cat X-Pipe, factory cats.

I started with GT500s and the stock H. The resonator delete really woke that combo up. The X-pipe actually quieted it back down and smoothed it out. I never had the Roush on with the H-pipe. I can say one thing about the combo, it sounds great and I don't find it too raspy.

However, I am contemplating ditching my cats down the road...if that happens I am putting the resonators back in. The Roush mufflers are loud, like crack the throttle and heads snap in your direction all up and down the street, loud. With no cats I am sure it would be even more absurd.

Yummy, sounds good.

How did u go about removing them? I'm really not a fan of "the local muffler shop" working on my car. Probably wind up with a 16" run of pipe that's totally rusted unless they can use SS. Could you get pipe put in that's bolt in or better just to have them weld?

The factory piping is stainless as well right?

I went to my exhaust guy. So, I have a 16 inch piece of regular galvanized pipe mixed in with my factory stainless. The only other option you have is to get your own pipe and band clamp it in (not sure if it would leak though), or get a full set of over the axle pipes that would replace that section of pipe and delete the resonators. JPC sells such pipe, as does Heartthrob/Jeg's.

I heard a lot of those pipes run pretty bad once the car is lowered. That's why a lot of guys keep the factory pipes. I think they have a flattened area near the axle...

Anybody have fitment issues with aftermarket over axle pipes?

How much did that run u to weld in new pipes?

My guy charged me $50.

My car is slightly lowered in the back. I have the 55D springs from Brembo50.com, but they only drop the rear a little over a half inch...just to even the gaps.

I got sick of being obnoxious with the Roush and went to GT500s. One less person giving Mustang driver's a bad name. My Harley exhaust is not stock but not annoying either.
