I plan on adding a catless H-Pipe in the future and that will make the GT500 exaust louder but hopefully not too loud which I was worried would happen with an aftermarket exhaust.

if you go with the catless H-pipe i would recommend putting the resonators back on, it sounds like hell, with no resonators, there are a few youtube clips of that exact setup(a silver 5.0) and its insane. unless you like that, then go for it, but just an FYI.

I have an off road x and no resonators with the Gt 500 mufflers and I love them. It doesn't drone and is loud but not obnoxious. It has a nice deep rumble at idle and throughout the entire rpm range.

I'm getting a catless H soon, I hope I can keep the stock mufflers. If not, its definitely going to be gt500s.

I just had the GT500 mufflers installed on my '11 5.0L a few days ago. Good deep tone, loud enough to sound like a "real" musclecar, yet not obnoxiusly loud. Money very well spent, IMO.

Thanks for the advice. Now that ive listened to a few more videos I think if i go catless it will be with an X-Pipe which seems to be more tame than the H-Pipe but still louder than just the GT500's alone. I also want the power gains from having the catless system. I still have my stock over-the-axle pipes as well.

If I may throw jn my 2 cents and mix it up a bit. When I was looking at buying my mustang a couple of weeks ago I was looking all over high and low for an exhaust I would love.. I was looking onto Borla since I had it on my Mini Cooprr S and gave it a nice rumble. Short story too late. I bought a GT w/ Corsa Xtreme on and truely feel in love with the rumble at 2500 rpm's and up. I'm looking at doung their XO pipe this fall/winter.

Thank you all for your input. The SVT mufflers are still on my watch list but a video of CaptDistraction's car with his Magnaflow Cat-Backs did do a little justice for them as well. Sounded pretty good IMO.

I pretty much have it down to:
- Magnaflow "Competition Series" Cat-Back
- Corsa Xtreme Axle-Back w/ Corsa X-Pipe
- GT500 Axle-Back w/ Deleted Resonators & Catted X-Pipe

Who really knows what I'll get in the end.

The GT500s are great value. Hard to beat really.

If you're looking at Borlas and willing to spend the money, look at the Corsa system.

I actually was thinking of swapping the borla choice with the full Corsa Xtreme system. It does all depend on if I'm willing to spend the money.

I've got that system on mine, and I can't tell you how many people have complimented me on it. I love the sound, the look, and the lack of drone from it. If I took it off today, I'd probably look for a Boss H-pipe and GT500 axle-backs.

This setup sounds awesome!

I love the deep growl that the offroad x-pipes add to the GT500 exhaust. (The growl the car gives when revving)

You're the first person I've seen mention the Boss H-pipe. Would you let me know what it's advantages are?

I would do it strictly for a sound change. The pipe with the plates removed sounds fantastic.

Call me crazy, but does anyone swap back and forth between their AB's? Just curious because I've always liked the GT500's, but went with the Roush's. I sometimes would like a change and since these things are not hard to take on or off with ramps and basic tools, I was thinking about getting a set of GT500's just for a change every now and then.

Thanks for the info. My GT500 axle-backs are being put on today. If they need a little extra volume, this may be my answer to that.

I've heard of plenty of people doing this on 05+ S197's, you're not crazy.

Man, that was a long and boring video.
