Clutch install
Has anyone DIY the clutch? Is there any reason I shouldn't? I've never done a clutch on a car, but I trust that I could do it as long as it doesn't take a ton of specialty tools or know how.
I prefer to do everything myself, just installed my whipple a couple weeks back.
Thanks for any info/guidance.

That's exactly how I feel, I probably wouldn't mess with gears either. I'll see what else I can dig up, honestly haven't searched that much for 5.0/mt82 specific installs. Just wondering if anyone here has done it themselves.

I am contemplating tackling this job on my car when the time comes. Not sure if I can get it high enough on jack stands though. I might have to rent a lift somewhere.

I did a complete t56 swap in mine with a rxt twin disk. It was my first clutch and trans install. I did my vortech before that. It's not to bad just have to be patient and follow instructions. Not to mention use a torque wrench. Make sure and torque all to spec. I used all hand tools. Only thing is the crank relearn after the swap if you allow the crank to move when doing the removal/reinstall. If you can keep it from rotating it's not needed.

There are only two things I've never done on a RWD car. Transmission rebuild, and rear gears.
I don't really look foward to either, but after looking at how Awesome's punkin is built... doesn't seem that terrible to figure out, really. Just get the, um... mesh? lash? right...
Hehe, I gotta go study more.![Smile](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Anyway, another "go for it" from me, because when mine needs a clutch, yours truly is doin' it.

Yes I have air tools. Looks like I'll plan to DIY, gonna have to research further regarding crank relearn and see if there's anything else. I appreciate everyone's input.
