I witnessed how easy it is to use an SCT tuner on a GT recently which got me to thinking…

My motor is stock right now, so if a i buy a tuner with preloaded tunes, can that same tuner be re used later if i significantly mod my motor, such as turbo, s/c or cobrajet kit for example?

Sorry for my ignorance (and i am in the software biz ironically) but i am very new to car tuning. If there's a thread explaining this please point me to it.

has anyone tuned their f150 the same way? do i need separate equipment for my '14, or are the ports the same as the '13 mustang, but just requiring different programs?

 

Yes.

And yes, you need a separate one for the truck. They can only be "married" to one vehicle at a time

 

haha, of course, i figured as much. I rememeber my mechanics tuning my various bikes using my laptop, back in the day, just loading different programs. I guess the tuners are a revenue stream unto themselves. no problem. My xmas wish list just grew

 

So are the 'free lifetime' tunes a good idea? would seem to be, if planning to continue modding the car over several years eh?

 

I'd say so. I am fortunate to be pretty close to AED, so they're the only ones that I am going to allow to tune my car. Either them or the FRPP Track Key until I supercharge...

 

All the well known tuners give free revisions. The companies that come up with the "free tunes for life" are just using it as a marketing gimmick. Don't fall for it.

 

Yes, we give tunes for life.

The more parts you add ... the more revisions we can make for you.

It is not a marketing gimmick ... we didn't offer tunes for life, previously & customer demand had us change our policy.
