GT500 O/A are non-resonated which is another hindrance to your exhaust and will play a role if the OP decides to go F/I. Some people are satisfied with the GT500's, I particularly am not. Also HP works in mysterious ways, just because a GT500 makes a certain amount of HP with a certain set of mods does not mean the same... at all... with a GT.

Exaust systems are much more complicated the most people thing. A well built system , all the parts work together, pipe dia. and smooth bends make a huge difference bigger is not always better!

Power mods should not be your first venture into modding the new Mustang. You should more than likely fix all of its faults first.

- Terrible two piece driveshaft

- Terrible shifter assembly

- Terrible suspension and brakes (Disregard if Track Pack)

There's lots of little nuances that should be addressed first before you go jumping into power mods. But hey, that's just me.

same exact thing here. X instead of an X and no intermediate pipe resonators. In both cases I removed my own resonators and basically had the same exact sound as the catback for hundreds less. I prefer the sound of an H-Pipe so in the Mustang I have left the H-pipe there.

so what's the difference between a borla catback and my exhaust now? mine has an H. theirs an X. If I wanted to change to an X, I'd still be way cheaper than the catback for no difference
Fully agree! My 2011 GT with Vortech blower is making 664 HP on 100% stock exhaust...fully street and emissions legal out here in California-gotta love it!

I agree , you can make all the power in the world but if you cant get it to the ground its a waste .

whatever guys, I live in the desert, no curves around here for hundreds of miles, I want more power.

recently I swapped my stock 3.15 gear for 3.55 gear. got my tune adjusted by bama for free on tunes for life deal.

my car is described as "tears ***".

my last outing to local dragstrip I ran 13.12 at 107mph.

I know you thinking, gees that's not that fast. but yeah for my area that's **** quick for a stock car with $1000 worth of bolt ons.

my local strip had an air density of 5800 and temp of 96* the night I was running. do the math on that.

I ran with a new stock 2014 gt mt with 3.73, he ran 14.56, and I also ran with a another 2013 gt automatic, he had a magnaflow axleback exhaust, he ran 14.63. so mine running a second and a half quicker, I would say is pretty **** good.

my last run of the night was my quickest and I ran against a 492 hemi challenger with ported intake, long tube headers, full exhaust, and 200 shot of nitrous, he only ran 11.92.

so hey say what you will about not getting power mods first, but im bought this car to race, hot rod around in, and thrash. mine still looks stock until a go screaming by you, then those young kids with the 20" rims and all the body mods go, "holy crap that old guys car is fast", lol.

fun, fun, fun!!!

Those 3.55's are hurting you more than helping you at the strip. Should have stuck with the stock 3.15's. Your car is shifting into 4th now before you cross the traps. My best is a 11.8x. Stock 3.15's, stock converter.

maybe im old school but that's what I like about this car, when I go around the corner and hammer it dances like a cat on a hot tin roof. that's part of the appeal.

I had a 68 Camaro with a nitrous small block, 10.80 in quarter mile, 1.4-1.6 sixty foot times, but with that you get, broken motor mounts, broken tranny mounts, broken tranny cases, twisted axles, and any number of other problems.

I want to drive this car, have fun, do burnouts when I want to, and on occasion run at the dragstrip. not seriously or competively, just for grins.

so in my opinion (like an azzhole everybody has one, and the others guys stink) buy the CAI, tuner, and axlebacks, it will make you really enjoy your car that much more.

face it you didn't buy a mustang for it stellar ride quality, or quiet interior,
you bought it to drive it, enjoy the power, and have fun with it.

or you could just tune it, do no other changes, and go just as fast. no cai, no exhaust, no gears, no lca's, no shifter, etc.

DRs are really all you need if you want to go fast, otherwise you're just wasting tire racing on street tires.

This is coming from someone that has Borla exhaust, no resonators on my OTAs, a JLT cai and a tune. i just wanted noise, but I'm not running around with the belief that the aforementioned gave me any horsepower.

As long as you're enjoying it then. 1.8 60' on my Weld RT-S wheels with M/T drag radials. Once the converter goes in I'm expecting a 1.4-1.5 60' @ 11.3-11.4. Full weight premium.

A GTO? Now we're getting off track here I see. You do realize 1.8 60' is all a auto with stock gears/converter is going to be able to get don't you? Regardless the tire.
