Is there a way to program the SelectShift to kick in automatically once in sport mode? I had read there was a way to automatically have the SportShift kick in (instead of just S mode). S Mode is now pointless, but it's still fun to manual shift.

Any insight would be great.

 

As of right now we can't make any adjustments to the SelectShift. Our head tuning specialist is going to continue to look into this and if anything changes, you'll be the first to know!

Dan, does that mean to just put it in"D" at the drag strip rather than"S" since the transmission won't hit 6th anyway before the stripe?

 

Yes you should put it in D for sure.

BAMA doesn't touch the settings from Ford on the tranny in S mode.

The only reason to use S mode is if you want to control shift points with SelectShift.

 

I am a little confused here, my Auto's shift firmness is ABSOLUTELY affected by my tune (shift firmness's turned up to 100-120 with my inTune). When I move it to S and shift using the button on the shifter with my tune installed, at WOT, my car wants to come unglued with each "manual" shift ?!?!?!? The firmness increase over stock can be felt while the car is just in S and left to shift by itself, and also when I take over shifting, am I misunderstanding something here?!?

I have 91 and 93 Octane (all 3 tunes, so a total of 6) from BAMA which affect the shifting as well as the canned tunes on the device which also affect the shifting...

 

I believe that shift pressure (firmness) and shift points are altered when tuning. Tuners will change the shift points for D, but don't change them for S mode. But the shift pressure affects all shifting.

It would be nice to have a tune that left the standard shift points in D mode and would get aggressive for S mode. Tuners I've asked feel it's not worthwhile, believing you should run the corrections all the time.

 

MADSCOTSMAN, do the firmer shifts speed up your SelectShift's response time at all? I like the idea of a manual mode, but I can never get past that delay.

 

Now that makes sense. Use D for the typical family car shifting: early and soft shifts. You know, when your wife drives the car and for max gas economy.

Use S for SPORT mode: later shift points, quicker down-shifts, and firm up-shifts. And, firm, quick shifts for SelectShift.

A tuner who offers such a tune could make some money.

I have a great tune except I hate that after I speed up to 45 then let it drop down to around 35 and be running in 5 gear in the SPORT mode.
