Is ROUSCH the way to go?
Is ROUSCH the way to go?
I am looking to do cold air intake and am wanting to know thoughts about brands. I know they all do the same thing but I am putting the FlowMaster Outlaw exhaust on it does it matter about the air intake?
Thanks
Drew
Thanks

Honestly the roush cold air intake (or any brand) will do nothing for you performance wise without a tune, it'll give you a little sound but that's it. Your car came with a great cold air intake from the factory. Not sure what your goals are for the car but I would go with the axle back of your choice and a good tune to start with.

A tune is going to garner you more HP than a CAI. A CAI without a tune results in zero HP gain and at times higher IAT's.
A tune is going to be your best bet. Let us know if we can help, we provide our own in house custom tuning
Actually our tuner has over 10k S197 tunes under his belt!

You just opened the Pandora box with that question... You will get a variety of answers. Such as: It depends on your Ford Dealer, what scan tool you use (there was some talk about a certain scanner not leaving a trace of the flash), to just be sure to flash back before you take it in, to kiss your warranty goodbye and, not to forget that they (Ford) has to prove that the tune is what caused the issue. And so on...
I flashed mine at 2k miles. Pretty much expected to have the warranty voided. With that said, my Ford Dealer is my father-in-law so don't know what would happen if I bricked my engine.
And I agree about the CAI. I bought the roush CAI and installed it and switched out for a Steeda (tune required) CAI. My roush CAI is sitting on the shelf collecting dust. Neither I feel, increased HP. They look good though
.
If I were to do it again. I would have done the tune and spent the CAI funds on something like a shift bracket or a MGW or Steeda, or basically any shifter other than the stock one.

Steeda Tune & CAI ... you won't have anything to worry about.
We have had 0 issues to date when our Cold Air Intake & tune have been installed.
The same tunes we write for our serialized vehicles are the same great tunes the customers get ... all with the tunes for life program.
Email me at tim@steeda.com if I can help you with any further questions.
Best Regards,
TJ

THX I guess steeda is the way to go thanks for all you help.
Does anyone have the ford racing power pack? It is supposed to do the same thing and add 10 hp. Does steeda increase it more than that?

On the dyno we typically see 9 to 12 horsepower over the stock airbox, mostly above 4,000rpm. A drop in filter is not going to give you any real measureable horsepower.
The tune will take you you into the 30 range of HP.

I would save your money on a CAI unless you get a tune for it. I ran an airaid without a tune for a short period of time and I didn't notice any gains. I don't think it added any sound either. It did look nicer though. The bottom line is if you're woried in any way about the warranty, don't mess with anything. The last four cars I've owned had the warranty "voided" within the first 500 miles.
