Axle Back vs Cat Back Borla ATAK

I'm looking at the cost difference between a Borla ATAK Axle Back Exhaust ($860) vs the Cat Back Exhaust (1440) of $580. These would be going on a new 14 GT/SC that is not going to be raced or rodded. Will there be much of difference between the two in terms of sound? I'm thinking that I can use the extra $580 for other mods that I would like to do.

Thoughts?

Only difference between the Cat Backs and the stock exhaust are the resonators right before the stock pipe goes over the axle (OTA). If you go to an exhaust shop, have them remove the resonators, and weld in new pipe in place of the resonators, it should cost you roughly $100 or less and you'll have saved $400+.

Without the resonators in, your exhaust will be louder and may even free up some HP.

I've had both. Actually the S Type, but same idea. I had the axlebacks first. Great sound. Then added the full catback (x and ota), and the sound is racier and louder. The x changes the characteristic of the tone, compared to the h. IMO, the x is more euro exotic sounding, which I love. So now I have Corsa Extremes, paired with Borla x and ota. It sounds like "Satan's Chariot".
