I don't find the stock shifter to be that bad, in all sincerity. Yeah, I have experienced some deflection when trying to powershift from 2nd to 3rd...but powershifting makes up about .01% of my typical use. I ordered a Barton bracket to tighten things up, but I am still on the fence with a shifter. If I just plain old speed shift, I can slam gears all day long with no issue in this car. It is worlds apart from a T-5, I can tell you that!

Well this morning I took the car to the dealership. As usual on my drive there no going into second gear for the first 1000 or 1500 feet. After two stop lights second gear engages. They have to replicate the problem to put in corrective action. So I have an appointment to drop the car off on Thursday evening. I will go for test drive with them next Friday, hoping the problem is recreated. It does it every morning for, so the dealer should not be spared.
I’d like to escalate this for you. Please PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, and contact info so I can help.

Thanks
Deysha,
Thank you for looking through and picking my issue. I will send you the information via PM. The dealer has been very nice and wants to look into the problem with their transmission specialist. The car only has 5800 miles, I had bought it with 3170 miles. I am dropping the car with the dealership on Thursday night, I will meet with them on Friday morning so we can test drive together.
Once again I thank you for your promptness.

The customer I quoted above would disagree with you. His experience was with the Barton you didnt like either, I just edited that part out of respect to Barton but its fair game now since you mentioned them. He is quite happy with ours though and has returned for many other parts as a result.
He's got choices no matter what his budget, we'll let him decide from there.

Not everyone will like our shifter, and I'm OK with that. Everybody has different tastes and their belief in what an aftermarket shifter should feel like.
Steedagus- The guy you installed your shifter on, liked yours better, thats ok. If you point out that one quote, why don't you point out all the quotes from people who have switched from yours to ours? The fact is no one shifter is going to be right for everybody.
Lewis26- You liked the MGW better, that further proves the point that there is no one size fits all shifter. Our shifter has already replaced a couple MGW shifters. That doesn't mean our shifter is better than MGW's, it just suited those drivers preferences better. In your case it was the MGW that fit your preference.
We have sold about 1,500 shifters, when you have that many people using your product there will always be someone who likes something better, and that's OK.
I hate spending money on aftermarket parts only to be disappointed. When I decided to get into this business I wanted to make sure that everything I do, is what I would want to receive as a customer, if I was buying the product. Which is why everything we make we stand behind. If you install our product and don't like it, we have a 30 day money back guarantee, we even refund the shipping cost. If you don't like it than you move on to something else and it didn't cost you anything but the time to install it. Out of roughly 1,500 shifters, I have only had 5 returns.

OK, well just an update I ordered the Steeda Triax, still have to install it. I will wait to install it till my shifting issue is completely resolved. The temperature in Baltimore for the past two nights has been close to the 30's so in the mornings the shift issue was not so intense, but when a few days ago we hit low twenties and teens it did not even shift into second. Would go to third but no second. After warm up things got slightly better but still a very rough shift. Note the skip shift was not triggered in this situation.
This morning I dropped of the car at my local dealer and they test drove it, the temperature was almost up to 40 degrees, so they said it shifted to second but it took way to much effort as compared to other cars they have driven. Anyway they performed the TSB where they changed the transmission fluid with the dual clutch fluid. When I picked the car up it was almost 60 degrees, well the car seems to shift much better, not sure if the temperature played a bigger role than the repair. So even thought its a Saturday tomorrow I will have to wake up at 5 to try to catch a cold temp shift.
I believe fixing the issue with the transmission shifting is my priority. Then the shifter will happen. I liked AM shifter it had good reviews. I saw the videos for the MGW shifter, well it seems they have re-engineered the basic design of the transmission shifter assembly. Very nice looking, but to be honest it's all hidden under the leather boot cover. I looked at Barton at last, and there design looks like Steeda, I could be wrong but I like the bracket design. Now these are items that would make difference to some people, I am not sure I am looking to re-engineer the item. There can probably be twenty other ways to redesign the system, but AM, Steeda and Barton's basic approach is simple by improving the part instead of re-engineering the entire assembly. If I had not spent the money on a new car, I would have replaced everything haha. But improvements with in budget is what I like. I am going on and on, I will update after I install the shifter.
I thank everyone who took the time to share their experience and opinions.

The stock shifter was not bad, but this is very good. Gus this is a good shifter, may hit you up later for the Bushing, for now I am happy with what the dealership did and the change the shifter has provided in the feel.

The problem is getting the rubber boot on. The throw for 1, 3 and 5 is pretty much the same as stock, but based on my stock and Steeda throw measurements, the travel to 2, 4 and 6 is reduced by almost .25". Overall I drove it around the block. It surely goes into gear, the feel is great. The stock shifter uses quite a bit of plastic to my surprise. I like the sound how it engages gears. I am pretty impressed.

Hmmm Im wondering how those two differ!? (AM & Steeda)
They look to be designed the same and I am sure they are not all that much different/better than the other, PRICE is a tad different though!
they even advertise about the same throw redusction, with AM getting the edge at around 5-15% shorter than Steeda's.

Well it was worth the money 10 fold. I hated the stock shifting and the am helped alot. But when slamming through gears I still on occasion stick going into 3rd. I've been informed that the steeda bracket will help cure this sickness on my pony

My Barton bracket went in this weekend. It really made a nice difference and I don't feel as if deflection will be an issue. In all sincerity, I like the stock shifter just fine. At this point, I would only remove it so I could get my Boss 302 **** off, as it is basically locked in place. I will say that what I thought would be a 10 minute job ended up being over an hour long job for me. Not much room to work up there when the car is on jackstands. The Barton product is very nice though.
