Airaid install question - blind plug?

After 30 mins of fighting with it, still cannot get the blind plug / grommet installed. Is there a trick to getting into the hole on the intake tube? Already have a crack in the grommet - Just seems to big to fit in the hole.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Update: it required 2 persons and needlenose pliers - wife helped me get it in.

What a PAIN
