Rdmsys! It's always recommended to use the "search tool menu" before posting a new thread.. You'll find plenty of old threads regarding info on throttle bodies. My personal advice along with Bert's, is the stock TB is more than efficient for naturally aspirated applications. Unless you plan on upgrading to a forced induction application, upgrading to a larger throttle body won't provide any real benefit, and just as Bert mentioned, is pretty much useless and overkill in my honest opinion.

I also agree with Bert that upgrading to a Boss 302 intake manifold may provide a small improvement gain in the upper to high RPM's, but more than likely will lose a small amount on the lower RPM range.
Also your pcm will require a tune re-flash as well.

If your searching for the best bang for the buck performance, you would be far better off saving your hard earned money towards purchasing a supercharger, rather than towards intake manifolds, throttle bodies and exhaust mod upgrades. In the end, you'll be really amazed with being able to make 100+ additional ponies at the rear wheels

Yeah man! If I had an extra 10K laying around I'd be all over it (or wasn't married!! She'd never understand lol).

Seems like the way to go to keep up with the modern killer cars.

Although I've often wondered. What would you have to do to the rest of the car to add 150 HP to it?

I mean it's fast now (for me) but an addition like that. Rear end? Clutch? Suspension etc. Or can you just through that in and be done?

If you had a performance shop do the supercharger installation? then yes, it will probably cost around the 10k range for parts and installation fees. If however your able to perform the installation yourself, then you'll save at least close to half of that 10k cost. You could also look into doing head upgrades, the Boss 302 intake manifold, larger throttle body, larger injectors, upgrade the fuel pump, add a CAI and performance tune.

By the time it's all said and done, your more than likely getting pretty darn close to that same 10k you would had spent for the supercharger anyhow and still not make the same 100+ HP to your car..

So you might just as well save up your money and go all out with the supercharger upgrade.. And yes, its also recommended to upgrade both the suspension and clutch in order to handle the additional 100+HP to the rear wheels..

you really don't have to do much to the rest of the car, for it to handle the 100-150ish HP that a supercharger will add . . . the original clutch probably would be the first thing to go, and you can replace it with something beefier if an when that happens

if I was starting over, I would probably go directly to Department of Boost kit, with their near-top-end cooling upgrades, to get a supercharged car that will (most likely) make it through a 20-minute road track session without power loss due to heat soak, for about $6,000 for the parts, plus installation/assembly labor and tuning.

the DoB "kit" uses a take-off GT500 supercharger to get to the "sweet spot" which is about 450 RWHP on these cars, on stock internals. The transmission "should" be able to take that, the clutch is borderline, the rest of the car should stand up to it with no major issues. There are plenty of mods that can be done to put that power to the ground better, but not actually "required" for the car to hold together.

IIRC! the 2012 GT models with the 5.0 Coyote are rated at 412HP at the crank bone stock.. Also keep in mind that your referring to the Department Of Boost GT-450 kit which makes appox 450 RWHP on our 3v cars. The OP however owns a 2012 GT with the Coyote 5.0 and would therefore need to consider the DOB GT550-S197 600HP supercharger kit starting at $5095 which in my honest opinion is pretty reasonable.

Perhaps the OP should consider looking into the DOB GT550-S197 600HP supercharger kit

yep, I was thinking of 4.6 3V ; forgot what car the OP has; like you say DoB does offer a kit for the Coyote also and pricing is pretty reasonable

BTW, DoB "claim to fame" is cooling; they claim to have the best intercooler system, which is key for real world performance . . . . I have been watching DoB since the beginning and Jason seems like a real straight shooter, so I am inclined to believe him

I don't know what the "sweet spot" is for the Coyote; I assume it is similar (the power level where you can just supercharge and leave everything else alone) but don't know the number, guessing maybe 600 ish so yeah that sounds about right

I would also assume the power level is similar as well. Like yourself, I don't know what the sweet spots are for the Coyote 5.0 either, but would think pricing would be close in the same ball park as the DOB GT-450 S/C kit

That DoP unit is super BA and as you said very reasonably priced. But I would never be able to install it myself. No way.

I was always looking at Roush specifically the Stage 1 for 150 HP.

That is like $7500 and I would prefer to have it installed by an authorized outfit so that if anything were to happen I'd be covered.

Whats funny is that I have spent 5K on stuff since I got it. I shoulda just put on the supercharger first lol.
