2012 5.0 dyno tune results

I just got my car tuned with the SCT programmer and a C&L intake. I gained about 30 HP!

there saying its mostly the tune...... not the intake.... most of us around here know you barely get anything of a cold air intake on these new models

+1. I have the factory airbox with just a K&N panel filter. With the canned 91 octane strategy tune from SCT, my '11 5.0L went from 365 rwhp stock to 409 rwhp on a Mustang Chassis Dyno. That's a 44 rwhp gain with no fancy aftermarket air intake. That big gain showed up at the track, as well, taking the car from trapping 108-110 mph in the 1/4 mile with the stock tune to 115-117 mph with the SCT tune.

I didn't really mean it was all from the intake but I guess I should have been more clear -__-

Too funny, the air temp read on the dynosheet is at the dyno electronics not the car....

There was a spirited debate on the CAI topic recently...one side of which (the one I tend to believe) has been Five Oh Brian and Resolution78.

My launch needs practice (my 60's suck), but I've run a best ET of 12.15 in the 1/4 mile so far. Should be in the high 11's once I figure out how to launch right.

409 on a canned tune....that same tune gave me this. Installed a CAI and a custom dyno tune and netted 395/381.

Yikes. Was the canned tune not leaving as much of a margin of safety perhaps?

The SCT 91 octane strategy tune seems conservative. On my car it made 409 rwhp / 382 rwtq with 30 degrees of total timing and a very rich 11.8:1 air/fuel ratio. I think it could be leaned out a little for some extra power, but I'd rather keep it on the safe side where it is.

That's a pretty stout tune making 409rwhp

I agree and I was quite surprised. The shop that dyno'd it normally sees tuned 5.0L's (with or without CAI's) typically in the 385-395 rwhp range, so my 409 rwhp was unusual. Perhaps my car is a factory freak? At our two local dragstrips, I'm usually a few mph faster through the 1/4 mile traps than similar 5.0L's with tunes/CAI's, so it's definitely making more power.
