So, just to get my head around this, this problem didn't occur with the strip tyres as the higher tyre didn't require the extra rpm just before the end of the quarter, and nothing to do with the clutch itself having a problem?

Cheers.
That is how I understand it as well. The street tire run was messed up because of hitting the limiter and not the later clutch issues Fred spoke of.

The MT ET street runs all were ok until I guess the last couple when Fred said the clutch became toast and no longer usable.

Hope this helps.

same here.
12 passes! Was the driver riding the clutch excessively. Seems way to fast for me. With sub 1.7 60's the S197's and other gen Mustangs have been getting 10 times that easily on stock clutch.

Or they could be using a shot of nitrous out of the hole and burning it up.....

Some things aren't adding up about the Evo car.

There is no Nitrous on the car, stop making stuff up just to stir the pot! 5.0 Magazine is covering the whole thing! Drive up to Atco right now and see for yourself and bring your GT500 and Ill let you borrow some drag radials and well see what time your car runs!

Next mod: Air bags (at least that's what I'd probably do).

That's what I said in the other thread, airbag in the right rear spring.

Our Shelby GT500 yanks both wheels about 10 inches off the ground and carries them for a good while. It's because it makes 1,000 RWTQ and 1,000 RWHP! It's a lot easier when you have that much torque with good weight transfer, and your cutting 1.35 60ft's!

It sounded like they didn't do full runs today. I'm guessing they were working on their launches, and wanted to otherwise save the clutch(es). They said full runs will happen tomorrow.
