Put on a set of bassani's last earlier this week and have noticed a rattling noise every now an then. Everything seems firm and it only comes from passenger side. Anyone have an idea what it might be?

 

This is most definitely a hangar issue as I've seen it several times before.

Here's what you need to do. Lay under each of your Bassani mufflers and note the position of each hangar. The portion of the metal hangar that sits in the rubber isolator is not the issue. There's a few things to look for though. I know you say it's the passenger side but you definitely want to check each one just to be certain everything is okay on the other side too. They can shift over time and trust me I've seen it myself. When I changed exhaust setup's I was rattle free for three months before mine started rattling.

1.) On the passenger side muffler and the drive side muffler, check the vertical portion of the metal hangar furthest from the tips and check to see if it is resting up against the hangar bracket.

2.) Check each hangars near the tips. Note the hangar sitting in the isolator and then observe how far rearward the hangar is. My Pype Bomb's had a hangar by the tips which was touching the rear frame of the car (inside the rear bumper) and this created an annoying rattling sound on occasion.

What happens is the exhaust is rumbling and as it heats up and also cools when the engine is not running, the hangars can move +/- 1 inch or so forward and aft. This explains why you may not hear the rattling sound all the time, and it also means that when you lay under your car and check the hangars they may not be touching, but you will likely find that it will be very close. When the metal hangar comes in contact it resonates up into the rear of the car creating a very fast but intermittent metal on metal contact which creates this rattling sound that you hear from time to time.

I had the same issue when I first switched mine out... Super informative reply exodus! Wish I had that when I was fixing mine...

 

Well I got a chance to check it out and it seems I had a loose upper bolt on the rear passenger side hanger. The washer was the one making the noise. I checked all the hangers anyway and they all seem good to go! Thanks again for all the information and hopefully someone else can use it for further reference! Again thanks!
