Okay so I'm planning on getting Llumar Ceramic tint 15% all around next friday. Darker than legal up front but most people I know run 15% all around down here in Florida. Its either 15% or 30% for that tint and 30% is too light IMO. Ill post pics when its done.

If you want quality tint, it's expensive.

I have quality tint. I have been using these guys for over 6 years, they tint every car in my family. There has NEVER been an issue or lack of quality on their tint ever.

Plus to back it up, it has a life time warranty. If it ever gets scratched, peels off, or fades at all. (which never happens in the first place). These guys place the same time that is on Range Rovers, Lexus, BMW, Aston Marton, etc etc...

If your paying $200+ your getting ripped off. end of discussion.

I agree. $249 is acceptable as long as it's done right the first time. I got an appt for Saturday, just not looking forward to not being able to roll my windows down for 3 days.

$200+ is typical for reputable places in the Chicago area.

well apparently, its who you know... because I get the best quality tint for the best price... guess you guys need to shop around, I called and got quoted from over 20-25 tint shops, all of which I asked which tint do they install and how much. I get the same tint for $100 less than your all being quoted.

oh and by the way for you guys disagreeing... If you tell a tint shop your wanting to get tint on a Shelby or any special edition/limited edition mustang or any other nice/expensive car... of course they are going to quote you more and put the icing on the cake, because you just told them your full of money.

but then again, its who you know.

Sorry man, there's still a couple problems. When someone, anyone calls for a tint quote, nobody would ever say a Shelby, a GT etc. They would just say a mustang, that's the natural response. Not all tint films are the same.
What tint is on yours?

Maybe in Cali you have 20+ shops to choose from in your area. I however am not that lucky. We only have a few reputable shops to pick from in the Chicago area unless I call a craigslist add...and who knows what I'll get then.

I live in SoCal and I can tell you those 20+ shops are not selling the good stuff.

actually, the majority of shops I called asked me what car do I have. want to know why? Because that way they can give you a appropriate quote due to the window sizes are different on every model of car. No you cant just say mustang because if you look at the past 40 years of mustangs, realize how many different window sizes their are.

All films are different, that's why some are cheap crap and others are quality.

I just googled Window Tint in my area, within 15 miles of each direction I stopped counting at 60 listed Window Tint Installed for automotive.

Thats what I was getting at, must not have completed that sentence correctly due to my head cold right now. I called over 20+ shops that gave my bull**** pricing, many tried selling my cheap crap for a high price than some of the best quality tints.

I went to one place a few weeks back that quoted me $150. When I pulled up (through a back alley on the south side of Chicago mind you) they rolled the garage door open. First thing I see is 5-6 dudes standing there looking more interested in robbing me than tinting my windows. Needless to say I didn't stick around...

Keep in mind too, tinting was just legalized by me this year. There are a few other shops but 1hr+ drive to them. I suppose more shops will open sooner or later.

Dang, there aren't a ton of shops my side of orlando that do good tint. I found three shops here that do ceramic tint. One had suntek (actually carbon tint and it is their lowest grade of carbon tint and its dyed so it can fade and they wanted $400 which is insane). The other two had llumar ceramic ctx (has lifetime warranty and any shop that installs CTX can replace for free). One shop for $199 and the other for $209. Going with the shop that charges $209 as they have 29 reviews across yellowpages, yelp and google reviews and all are 5 stars. Been around for 10 years and give lifetime warranty on install. They also install huper optik tint which is really nice but it only goes down to 30% and i would like it darker than that.

Tinting is an art, not a science. Props to you guys for doing your homework. Finding out which film they use is the best way to protect yourself. After that, finding a good tinter that can do it in one piece and nail the complex shapes is important.
