Window Tint Percent on Kona

Hey guys, I live in Florida and the car is on fire after work (I know it'll still be on fire after work tinted but there wont be as much sun beating on the interior all day and it looks better tinted IMO ). Looking to see how dark to go with the tint. Pics/opinions please!

I don't have pics because it's raining here today but legal is 28% front and 15% on the rest. I went legal. My friends do 20% all around to make it match but I didn't want the possible hassle. I will post pics either later today or tomorrow when the dumb rain goes away.

Mine is 15% Johnson non-metallic. You've obviously seen the pictures already.

Didn't want to keep posting pics of my Lava Red car in the Kona section so here is my car with the 28/15 tint:

I went with 15% all around on my last 3 Mustangs. Never been hassled by the law.

I have always had 15% done all the way around with a windshield strip, about 6 inches lower than the asi mark, on all my cars and never had an issue. The main thing is to go with a Titanium tint. By Titanium, I'm not referring to color but the Film Material. My Mom has 20% Titanium all the way around on her 2005 Windveil Blue GT and you can hold your hand right up to the glass inside and not feel any heat transference, but 20% just isn't as dark as I like.

You may want to look for a ceramic tint down in FL to help reduce the heat inside the car. I wish now I would have done that when I had the Mustang done.

I went with 20% all around. South carolina law is something like 27%. I would have liked to make it bit darker but didn't want to make it too obvious.

35% .......before & after...The time of day when the pics were taken is different but 35% with a quality tint is plenty . I have dark charcoal interior as well.

Window Tint

I live in Charleston as well and went with the 27% tint. I have the black charcoal interior. I just have to make sure the window cover is on during the day or it's on fire as well even with the tint.

Your Kona's look great tinted!

I'm in Illinois and they just recently passed a law that you can do everything but the windshield 35% at the darkest. I haven't got mine done yet, that's next on my list.

I finally found a legit shop with decent rates by me. $249 all around, good warranty, and 3M tint. Since 35% is legal here, do you think I can get away with 25 or 30%?

I think you can get away with 25%, but you'll have to pay your own ticket if I'm wrong. What's the bill for a ticket for too dark a tint?

Not sure. Last time I got one was my old car 5-6 years ago and it was $50. Tint shop said they do 30% all the time with no problems, but seems light still.
