Gilliland to take over the 38?

I love Robert Yates Racing. The driver which first got me interested in NASCAR was Davey Allison, and I became a fast fan of Ernie Irvan when he took over the #28, and again when Ricky Rudd came to the team. Though Chevron took the Havoline car away and the #28 no longer races, I still stick with RYR even through the lean times like this year.

So when both Sadler and Jarrett decided to defect this year I got pretty down. But Robert and Doug are still trucking along and low-and-behold they're after one of the hot commodities in this Silly Season, David Gilliland. And next year they might (finally) expand to 3 teams and be able to match the Nega-teams' testing advantage. Good to see they're still fighting for it.

I'm about done with NASCAR.

And I think you may mean Sadler and Jarrett decided to defect, not 'Sadler and Yates', but I understood.

Jarrett and Sadler were my favorite drivers. I could care less now . . .

Try watching Roush instead of Yates.

LOL, yeah. Sorry, Capri, I hadn't had my cofee yet.

No, I'm not just gonna switch over to Roush. I admire Roush and like him, I prefer his teams to win if Yates is out of the running at the moment. But I'm not abandoning Yates. If I just went for whoever had better performance i'd be a Jimmie Johnson fan *shudder*.

Besides, Roush needed Yates' engine program to get his Uber-team on the right track. If Yates can get his chassis program up to Roush's level he'll be near the top of the charts again.

I do watch Roush and have always liked Mark Martin, Matt, & Greg. But Mark is leaving so that's another driver (however, watching him in the truck series will be fun, as it is my favorite NASCAR series) gone, but at least he isn't switching manufactures.

I don't think that Jarrett leaving is any big loss, he's done!

Well... (to quote Mark Martin) Childress has been crappy 3-4 of the last 5 years. Only this year are they really getting their stuff together. Yates will do the same. RYR needed this kind of shake-up to get the butts in gear. They were just rolling along mired in mediocrity. If they're really the die hard racers they say they are (and I believe them) they will come back with a vengence.

Jarrett... owns a Ford Dealership and defects to Toyota. He won't do squat over there either. He's done. He wants to play golf but has decided to pick up a couple of big checks before he hits the links.

Sadler... will go nowhere with Ray. Sure, Jeremy made the chase the last two years, but what did he do when he got there? Only Kurt Busch finishing with an 8 race run saved Jeremy from 10th place last year.

Now before you all go rounding up the posse, you need to know my 3 favs were Martin, Jarrett, and Rudd. In that order. Give me these two hungy rookies and an owner that's hearing he's too far gone to get it done. Sounds like the perfect ingredient for a comeback.

And lastly, if you're into fantasy leagues, mine pays $1000 every six races. 250 teams with 10 weekly winners and 10 divisional winners every six races. You want action? I'll give ya all the action you can handle for $20. Take my site name, add '.com' and there ya go!

Carl Edwards will miss the chase in '06... but win it all in '07. Ya heard it here first.

Pup OUT!

I suppose it really has to do with the coporate image relating to drivers nowadays. Most seem as 'cookie cutter' as the tracks they race.

Would you rather still have Kurt Busch in Roush #97?

I'd really like to see my boy Kenny Wallace run one year in either car, but they're really into taking them young these days. That being the case, I'd still like to see Auto Zone step up to Cup. Is it me or is Ford now in the minority? Way too many Dodges and Chebbys.

Ford's been in the minority for some time. In fact if my math is correct Toyota will have more cars in the field next year than Ford.

Maybe, but the Wood bros are saying they're going to do 2 cars, Yates will have 2 (3 if Ward Burton can find a sponsor), and Roush will have 30 or so. So I suspect they'll be about even.
