So . . . two races in the United States and no US drivers or manufacturers.
Wonder if the race may swap venues year-to-year much like the German Grand Prix (Hockenheim and Nurburgring)?
Formula One officials announced Tuesday afternoon that a Grand Prix will be held in June 2013 along the Hudson River just minutes from New York City.
The event, to be formally named the Grand Prix of America, will be contested on a 3.2-mile street course that runs through West New York, N.J., as well as neighboring Weehawken, with the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop.
Among the dignitaries in attendance at Tuesday's announcement at Weehawken's Port Imperial Ferry Terminal were New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and West New York mayor Felix Roque.
"This is another example of what New Jersey can do when we work together," Christie said. "I can assure the people from Formula One this is going to be one of the wisest decisions you've ever made."
Christie added that the economic impact of the event, which is expected to attract over 100,000 visitors, will be "enormous."

Ehh, it's cool that there's something like this headed to my home state, but I find F1 boring. It's like high speed follow-the-leader. No passing, little drama.
I'd much prefer they bring the V8 Supercars to NJ, rather than Austin, TX for 2013. Maybe 2014? I can hope, right?
