Anyone going to Mid-O next weekend?
IRL/ALMS doubleheader with Indy Lights and Speed World Challenge. I'll be there Saturday and Sunday for sure, Friday if I can get the day off from work.Should be a good time.

Gonna miss you Dan. I wish I could be in two-places at once. Don't know how long Mid-Ohio will stay on IRL schedule and I have never seen an open wheel race at Mid-Ohio, but I'm headed to Barbers.

I'm pretty sure they'll be back next year. The crowd last year was huge, and it's looking to be bigger this year. Hopefully if Cleveland gets back on the schedule, they'll be able to coexist.

I'm looking forward to SWC GT probably even more than IRL. The ACS Mustang seems to be pretty competetive with Brandon Davis behind the wheel. Pobst is strong in the K-PAX Porsche, The Caddys are still quick even without factory support, and you can never count out Curran in the Whelen Corvette. Should be a good show, which makes it a shame that Speed hides it on weekday afternoons.
ALMS should be a good race, too. The Acuras have been giving the Audis and Porsches a run for their money lately. Plenty of variety in GT2, as well. It's still between Ferrari and Porsche for the class win, but it'll be cool to see the Ford GT running, too.
As for the Indycars, the smart money would be on Penske or Ganassi, but it sure would be cool to see Graham Rahal do well at his home track. Ryan Hunter Reay has always been pretty good there, too.
Have fun at Barber's. I hear that it's a beautiful track.

I figured the Aston would just be poking around at the rear of the SWC GT field. Turns out it was pretty darn competetive out of the box. Race wins would not surprise me before the end of the season.

Mid-O was pretty toasty on Friday and Saturday. Much cooler after the monsoon Sunday morning, though. Speaking of hot, the ACS Mustangs in SWC GT were the bomb-diggety. The engine started out as a Ford GT crate motor, and is built up by Huffaker to a 6 liter natually aspirated engine. And it's a screamer.

WOW . . . that is the first I have heard of "WHAT" the actual engine is and I have tried looking before. Thanks for the scoop! I'd love to know more about it!!

I'm a little familiar with Huffaker's work on Minis and Sprigets in Club Racing, A Huffaker sticker on the car means it's probably going to win. But the sound this car makes... My God, you've got to hear it in person. It makes the Koni and Mustang Challenge cars seem like street cars in comparison. Though I guess that's true of any SWC car vs it's Koni counterpart. I may have to go up to the Detroit GP next month just to see it in action again. I guess I'd stick around for Indy and ALMS, too.
