Why Won't Ford Build Me A Car?
Hey bud, thanks for the kind words. I wish I could help but I already have my 1st one sold to WarpedSpazm, and I have an order for a 2nd one that I may/may not get.
Ford may give out a 2nd allocation to dealers who move their 1st cars very fast. Time will tell on this one and I have my fingers crossed.

How is the car limeted, every dealer I have called (over 20) has at least 1 if not 3 unsold 2010 cars. Ford Made over 8,000 of these the first few years. Last year not as many and my guess would be because they new people would want the 11 over the 10.
Do you really think If Ford said they would build these the same at the GT that they would sell more than 10,000 of them a year?
I would love to see documentation to support your claim that demand exceeds producton, maybe in 2007 or 2008, but no way in 2010 and I am sure not in 2011.
Hey I guess If Ford doesn't need my money for this car or the next 20, no problem there are several other cars out there that perform as well or better. I can order any other GM or Chrysler car and have it without any drama.
I say its Ford's fault for not puting a customer before a dealer stock order just my opinion.
Thanks for the reply, it just helps push me back to the brands I have purchased for the last 20 years.

Last year they made I believe just over 5,000 where in the past, it was I believe double that total. Sorry you can't get your car. Maybe you should have acted faster for one, or just take a dealer who is at MSRP, which is a fair deal on thiese!! What did the dealer offer your car for, in regards to off MSRP? Just curious? You know you can also buy out of state, by calling around for one.
And about the Z/28? You won't even begin to get close to this for MSRP if your lucky it even comes out, which last I heard, was NOT happening!! I can already see the dealers asking well over MSRP for one, trust me on this.
Against my better judgement I'm going to reply to this...
Why would another dealer sell you a brand new car for under invoice, when they can sell it for invoice or over. In a couple months maybe the story will be different, but these aren't even on lots yet.
It seems like you're looking for reasons not to buy the Shelby, if there's other cars out there that are better why are you even looking at the Shelby to begin with? If your comfortable giving your money to 2 companies that are going the wrong direction with debt and quality, that's your call.
And if these cars are so abundant why don't I see them all the time. My Dad who commutes in Southern California still calls me when he sees even a new Shelby because it's not an every day occurrence. I attend a school where it's the norm for people to buy really fast cars, There's tons of Mustangs and even a number of Camaro's. There's 1 GT500 here, and you can count the number of SVT Cobra's on 1 hand.
It's looking like you should change the car you own on your profile to a Z-28.

Hey bud, yes, there were some GT500s around still, the 2010s. I only got 1 last year and I sold it for MSRP to a fellow forum member Zeindog. He LOVES it!! He ordered it back in January 2009! I am only getting one for 2011 and only hope I can get a 2nd one for a second person. This is much more limited than in the past. Partly, I believe, because Ford had to add Dealer cash on 2008 GT500s to help move them, as some dealers sat with them for far too long asking for the "big homerun deal". I don't do that with these. I sell them at MSRP, as I only get 1 per year and its sold before it even comes in.

The best deal I have found other than the dealer I ordered from in Feb. is $2000 over invoice. From what I am hearing thats a good deal, that was just hard to swallow seeing is how my dealer sold the first car and commited to sell one to me for much less than that. I have seen several guys post getting an 2011 for 500 over invoice and that is what I have been looking for. Its just a bummer I found my price, just not an allocation.
As for the Z/28, I have family at GM. The car exist and is planned to be a 2012. One thing that differs from my area here in Michigan is nobody pays sticker for a car, everyone has a family member that works for the big 3. So providing GM does employee discounts on the Z/28 (providing it still comes out) Yes I can get it for under invoice by a couple grand.
Why won’t Ford build me a car? I have $50K and they don’t seem to want it. I didn’t think any auto maker was in a position to lose a customer or in my case gain a new one.
I ordered a 2011 GT-500 on Feb 4 from a dealer very close to my home. Sales and service staff were all great. The sales manager sat down called his rep in front of me and was told he only had one allocation for a Shelby this year, but to go ahead and submit the order and maybe another dealer wouldn’t want their Shelby and my dealer could get a second allocation that way.
I just don’t get it, I have the money, I put in the order but yet Ford won’t build me a car?
I have called every dealer within driving distance most won’t even entertain the thought of selling me a car under MSRP others won’t come down more than $500. The dealer I ordered my car from gave me a fair price that nobody else will match. I don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to get a car from the dealer that treats me well?
I am beginning to become frustrated, I plan on waiting until July 1 and if I still don’t at least have a VIN I plan to drop the order and wait for the Camaro Z/28. I have friends at GM and I know I can get a Z/28 for a fair price from the dealer I have purchased my last 5 new cars from.
Why does Ford sell the GT-500 like this? To keep the price up by giving allocation to the dealers that wont come down from MSRP?
I have had poor luck with my last two new GM vehicles’ and planed on switching to Ford, but this gives me second thoughts.

Well its obvious my post came off poorly, I guess I shouldn’t have stated I was cross shopping a Chevy on a Ford forum, now I know how the Mustang guys feel on Camaro 5. LOL.
Sorry for coming off wrong and upsetting so many of you.

Do you have to have a 2011? (is it because aluminum engine?)
Local dealer here (vanc, cdn) has 5 2010's...been sitting there for past few months...bet someone will score good deal

I still plan on giving my dealer until July. Its a great car, I just dont agree how its sold or how alot of the dealers treat the customers because of how its sold as low production.
I guess we shall see about the tail light comment. I know the Z/28 will have the LSA, the same engine that powers the Caddy CTS-V to a 12.4 second 1/4 mile. I had planned on buying the Camaro the last few years, but its just doesn't fit me as well as the Mustang.
If my wife would let me I would have a ZO6 in the drive by Monday, but she didn't like my comment about strapping the two boys to the roof.

Basically this dealer changed their philosophy after sitting on a '07 GT500 for a year wanting $10k ADM, they decided to sell them early for MSRP.
It's a free country and its great that someone can buy a new GT500 every year, but that means that some others get left out unfortunately.
I was lucky enough to get the only allocated 6.2L Raptor. They had one stock order and one retail order. The stock order is being held hostage for the same $10k over MSRP. I will thankfully be paying a hair under MSRP.
Anyway. Demand is there. I'd think they'd want to make money and sell these profitable units, exclusivity be damned.
Figures to date from 'Burning Blue Star IV' over on Team Shelby:
2010 Shelby GT500 Production Totals - 3,545 coupes + 913 convertibles = 4,458 cars
2011 Shelby GT500 Production Totals - 745 coupes + 217 convertibles = 962 cars
Almost 1,000 cars in what? A month? Little more? I don't think we'll be running out of 2011s any time soon.
